UVA vs. Ivies

How does UVA compare to the Ivies in terms of workload toughness, grade curving, social life, etc.? I know that the Ivies aren’t all the same as each other, but do you all have any general thoughts?

If UVA was an ivy league, I think UVA would be UPenn. Work hard/party hard.

I think UVA is definitely less cutthroat competative than UPenn though.

Do you mean less cutthroat competitive academically, or more laid back socially, or both?

yes, more laid back socially. it’s a very good school, but it certainly has a state school atmosphere.

…UVA is a southern state school, I would hope it had a southern state school atmosphere. Are there state schools that don’t have state school atmospheres?

Comparing UVA to Ivies doesn’t really do much, none of the ivies are state schools or southern. It’s competitive academically, but not as much as the Ivies, and I think that’s where the comparison should stop.

I think UVA has a pretty yankee atmosphere for a southern state school. it certainly isn’t like state schools in the deep south.

it has smart people lol

UVA certainly has more of a northern atmosphere than a southern atmosphere, in my opinion, there is a large amount of students from NoVa

Maybe it’s just that I’m from Philadelphia, but I don’t think UVA is northern at ALL.
