UVA vs. W&M vs. Duke for a pre-med math major

I want to major in mathematics and then go on to medical school.

I think I’ll find my niche at either school. I could fit in at a small school like W&M as well as a large school like UVA or Duke. So ignore the social aspect.

Purely academically speaking, which place is the best for someone who wants to major in math and go on to medical school?

I have heard from people that UVA undergrad math is bad, but they could be wrong.

What do you mean by “bad” when referring to the UVA math program?

I don’t know. I’ve just heard that UVA isn’t so good with undergrad math. I don’t know if that’s true, but that’s what I’ve heard.

I’ve posted about UVA math plenty of times. Once you’ve searched and have less general questions feel free to pm me. Google;

bad depends on whether you are talking about graduate mathematics preparedness or an undergraduate major on its own…

I don’t see how you could go wrong with any of those options. Could you elaborate, for my own edification, the benefits of pairing a mathematics undergrad with medical school? What do you hope to do in future?

Duke isn’t a “large” school by any means. It only enrolls between 1650 and 1750 undergraduates each year.
