UVa's new Rector & Vice Rector

Following in the footsteps of Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, who were UVa’s first 2 rectors, Thomas F. Farrell and W. Heywood Fralin are now at the helm. Here’s an interesting article about UVa’s new rector and vice rector and the areas they want focus on in their leadership positions.

FYI, the rector is the head of the Board of Visitors, which is the governing body of the University. Apart from the other members who are appointed by the Governor of Virginia, there is a student member. UVa is one of the few schools (if not the only one) with a student member sitting in its governing board. If you are a current student at UVa, you can apply for the prestigious position of being a member of the Board. I don’t know if the application is on the web though.
