UW Autumn 2014 Transfer Thread

@potatomawnster‌ OMG what a hilariously horrifying thought. And they make you physically go online to find and print the correct form! Perhaps it is a culling process lol.

@nornorbalina lol

Hey everyone, I’ve been lurking since my posts on the first few pages but I thought I’d update everyone. My unofficial transcript loaded on Tuesday and I received my letter today. At this point I think I’m going to Western because I already have housing and everything figured out. Still great to be accepted into the UW and hope to go there for grad school!

As for my stats I’m transferring from a WA state community college with my AA. I had a 3.3 college GPA when I applied. I am a first generation college student and I really think I wrote a strong essay. But then again I think everyone feels that way!

I’m excited to get in and I’ll wait to see if I hear anything from financial aid before I make my final decision!

Like @potatomawnster‌, I got my enrollment package today  I think I will hand in my check in person as I live close to campus. I also did get an urgent email for my financial aid, which I will get to soon.

anyone else got their transcripts loaded, acceptance or rejection letters? My transcript hasn’t loaded yet.

The wait is so frustrating. I have been accepted to NYU and now I’m just waiting to hear back from UW Seattle. I’m an international transfer student from a community college in Seattle. I have already got accepted to my department at UW in May, which is Speech and Hearing Sciences. My advisor told me there’s no guarantee that I could be accepted for general admission even though the department already accepted me. That made me extremely nervous.

My problem is that I need to either accept or decline my admission to NYU in the next couple weeks. If I still haven’t heard from UW by then, I will need to commit to NYU. But honestly, my program at UW is very good and has very high ranking as well. So I think I’d rather choose UW over NYU.

My transcript hasn’t loaded either. I’m done stressing about it though. Unfortunately I don’t have much advice on whether or not to commit to NYU. You’re lucky they’ve given you this long

I just made an account after reading this thread for months now,
But,
I was told that some universities are taking so long to make their decision is because theyre waiting if transfer students from c.c. are graduating with their intended degree?
I just graduated last Friday, and thought that could be the reason why.
I’ve actually been typing an appeal a few weeks prior if I get rejected.

@krystlephan‌ My transcript hasn’t loaded yet and I haven’t received a decision letter yet. I was accepted into the major Speech and Hearing Sciences as well though!

no luck on my end. been checking each day randomly for bout a week now. transferring from a cc in state.

@krystlephan‌ you look so fine. makes me regret being in a major where I get stuck with mostly guys all day.

How did you know you were accepted into your major? If I have heard nothing at all is that a bad sign?..

@xoxoyazyxoxo‌ if you have applied to your major at the same time that you applied to UW, you should receive a decision email from your department within a month or so. If you haven’t receive anything from them, I suggest you should call to confirm with them

@kelciemelcie‌ congrats on getting accepted to the major. Finger cross and be patient for our final acceptances!

@2cute4you‌ thank you. Would you mind telling me what major are you in?

@krystlephan I just applied online with the application. I was supposed to send in a separate department application? I am just so confused right now…

@xoxoyazyxoxo‌ oh no. At UW, when you apply, you basically have to make 2 separate applications: 1 for UW general admission, 1 for your major. So since you haven’t applied to your major yet, you will need to apply later in another quarter. But it wouldn’t hurt your chance of getting acceptance for general admission

@krystlephan engineering if I get accepted.

I heard engineerings get heard from last, if that helps.

@zsdbkn Great won’t know until July. Figures.

This probably doesn’t matter much anymore, but my application status changed today from the usual to:

“Congratulations! We are pleased to offer you admission to the University of Washington for autumn quarter 2014. A complete packet of information about admission and enrollment is mailed approximately 5 - 10 days from the date your admission status was updated in our data base. Please allow sufficient time for the mail to reach you, especially if you live out of state or out of the country.”

This change occurred seven days after my transcript loaded on the 10th. Don’t think that this is accurate though since everyone who had their transcripts here on the 10th and 11th seems to have gotten everything before 5 - 10 days.

After I received my admission letter I waited till today to see if anything will move with financial aid and nothing did so I called them today. They told me that after you are admitted they release the award info, but sometimes it messes up. They had to go in and release mine manually (which took like a minute) and now it loads!

So anyone else waiting on financial aid should call them and have them look into it!
