UWC Applicants for the 2013 school year!

Congratulations to all the USA applicants who got accepted! I recently found out I have been shortlisted, and I have my interview this weekend. I am so excited, but also extremely nervous. Anyone have any interview advice? Good luck to any other Canadians still in the process

Congratulations for all the students who got accepted!! :slight_smile:
And also good luck to those who still have interviews.

thank you Apollo6, I think that I did good, anyway I tried to do my best. I hope to be selected for the next stage of the selections, but there are so few spots:-(

I’ve been accepted to UWC Mahindra in Pune and I’m very excited!

Congratulations, abhishekshah! Good luck, mskchs! Sorry, Bergen :frowning: Good luck on your son’s competition and college visits! anotherHollywood, I honestly have no idea how many people get off the waitlist ;(. Could your D reapply next year? My S was successful on his second attempt.

congratulations everyone!!! So happy for everyone who got in, and to those who didn’t, don’t worry, everything will work itself out!
I had my interview today and Canadian applicants, if your interview is anything like mine, you don’t even need to worry. The questions for the personal interview were based on my opinions of Canadian and world issues and the quiz afterwards on Canada and the world was very easy. The group part was intimidating and I think I came across as being kind of shy as I was super tired (a word of advice: go to bed early the night before your interview), so I’m not sure how well I did, but it was great fun and the atmosphere the whole time was really relaxed.

I had my preselections nearly two weeks ago, in Italy, but I agree with LynxEye, the available scholarships are so few that there’s really no hope :frowning:
however, everything is possible, let’s dream!!
has anyone in my country received the results yet?

@ nanaga
where did you do the selections?
anyway the selection commitee told us that we’ll know the results approximately in three weeks maximum.

@ LynxEye

I was interviewed in Bologna, on the 13rd.
Well, I hope the results are coming soon!
good luck

Those of you whose first language is not English, did you have your interviews in English?

no, we had the interviews in our first language, because they believe that it’s not important to know English to be selected, you can always learn it once you’re there…
they didn’t even ask me whether I could speak English or not!

yes! I’ve been selected for the italian national selections in Duino!!!:smiley:
@nanaga, and you?
does anybody know how it works?

nanaga, thank you for your answer.

yes!!! I’ve been selected for the national selections too!! I’m so happy!
We’ll see each other in duino @LynxEye :)

the email just said we have to be there on the 28th, I think it will be similar to the regional preselections… it’s a shame there’s such a limited number of scholarship, isn’t it?
where did you take your preselections?

does the preselections-national selections scheme apply to other countries as well?

@nanaga
I took the preselctions in Torino, and as far as I know selections work in the same way in almost every country…
it’s strange that I have to be in Duino on the 30th, there will probably be 2 turns…

Hi everyone! I got into Atlantic College and I haven’t yet decided whether or not to attend but I need to know soon. I know everyone here is very PRO-UWC but the tuition is high and I wanted to know if it was really worth it?

Congratulations! Last year my son was offered a full pay place after grade 10. He didn’t take it. Fortunately he was able to reapply and was given a scholarship. I was ready to pay this year because I do value his sister’s experience at UWC but it would have been challenging financially. I feel for you and your parents. It’s a tough decision.

Thank you Applo6 ! It is a lot of money and my parents would have to sacrifice in order for me to attend, fortunately they are in full support of me going if I wish to!!

hi! i got accepted into atlantic college for the coming year, and i’m looking forward to it as well :slight_smile: i had a friend who went there for a year but had to drop out because of family issues. the tuition rate is very high, and admittedly, i would have preferred to go to pearson ( i applied through the canadian committee as a non resident) or to red cross nordic. however, i’ve heard good things about the environment and what it’s like, but i am admittedly worried about the academics - what with all the extra curriculars and the difficulty of the ib programme, im quite worried that i won’t be able to get into the uni’s i want to (i also still have to do the SAT’s, so studying for that as well). if anyone is in the same boat as me or has already been, please let me know!
and congratulations to all the people who already got accepted and everyone waiting for their interviews.

hello everyone… i’m so glad ive come across this thread. im from kenya(im guessing some may nt know where it is, eastern africa. hehe) i just really wanna say a big ‘hey’ to my fellow UWC enthusiasts. i was accepted to the UWC of Mahindra, so excited to interact with you all my fellow scholars
