After sifting through pages upon pages of UWC posts here on CC, I’ve noticed that very few people have actually posted their stats. As a curious student planning on applying next year, I was wondering if any alumni, current students, or even rejected applicants would care to post the information of their application here for comparative purposes, just to get an idea of average stats.
By the way, are there any UWC Adriatic alumni out there that I might be able to PM with questions?

Accepted to UWC class of 2017:
I’m just going to say your numerical components are (as far as we finalists could determine) not the most important factors. While most of us did have a high GPA and test scores, several people had a few low grades thrown in there (a few Fs, lots of Ds and Cs). We think the most important component of the written application was the essay, and past there it was all personal.
Your typical finalist had a GPA in the upper 3s at least (but not perfect, a few people had Fs here and there), fairly high test scores (30+ ACT) and quite a bit of community service (I, however, only have a few dozen hours). But it wasn’t necessarily the academic all-stars who were accepted. If you’re good enough to get your foot in the door (that is, to be one of the 130 semifinalists, out of about 450-500 applicants), it’s all about personality at that point.
WOuld a 3.559 GPA have a good chance? Please take a look at my thread!!!
Stats barely count, so long as you prove yourself capable of handling the work (ie. not a 2.5 and i’m guessing 2000) I got rejected with much higher stats than plenty of applicants who got in

The level of academic preparation also varies widely by national committee. Thu US national committee is far more selective than many other national committees which offer far less in scholarships and offer far more admissions (or recommendations) per capita.
@invisiblebicycle What school are you hoping for?
@gonfaloniere I am honestly open to any UWC school as I believe any school would be an amazingly beneficial experience. I am partial to RNC (of course), but it seems to be one of the more selective ones and more catered towards students inclined to pursue the medical field. I’ve heard that there have been cases of depression and alcohol abuse at AC, but I think I’ll be able to stay away form any temptations that will compromise on my education. I also wouldn’t mind the one in Italy or Costa Rica (I speak pretty fluent Spanish). Ok wow that was a lot so I guess I’m not really leaning towards any one school, because getting into any school would be such an honor.
@invisiblebicycle I don’t know too much about RCN, but it definitely looks like a really great school (of course UWC seems to run a pretty tight program in general, so that’s hardly unexpected). I’m really aiming toward UWCad considering the location, village life and music focus, but really any school would be amazing. Does anyone know which schools have the highest application rate/are the most competitive to apply to from the US?
By the way, for all interested, the application is now live.
@invisiblebicycle
RCN isn’t only medicine. I don’t know that much about it but one of the alums at the finalist weekend went there and he’s a software engineer.
@gonfaloniere
Not everyone answered the poll on the finalists Facebook group, so I don’t have complete results, and this doesn’t take into account how many people applied to each school, but:
-3 for Costa Rica
-3 for Mostar
-2 for Maastricht
-2 for Adriatic
-2 for Atlantic
-2 for RCN
-2 for RBC (for myself and several others who won’t be going there, that was our first choice)
-2 for Waterford Kahmbala
-2 for Mahindra
-2 for LPC
-1 for Pearson
-1 for Changshu
-1 for Dilijan
-1 for SEA
@gonfaloniere also, what instrument(s) do you play?
Who here are planning to apply for the years 2016 - 2018?
@MangoCobra That was the plan, although I’m a sophomore so i have another chance if I don’t get in. What about you?
@gonfaloniere You can apply twice? And I’m planning to apply as well
@MangoCobra yup, once going into sophomore year and once going into junior year.
@gonfaloniere so how old are you the first time? (I’m not from US.)
@mangocobra @gonfaloniere me too! but I’m applying for senior year and a year after so its my only shot!
