tsdad, This is what was just reported on CNN…absolutely unimaginable!

Oops, darn… I am sorry about the bad link in light of such a horrific incident. I just saw the date at the top of the article after a google search and assumed it was about the current incident, w/o reading closely. Too busy here at work.

21 are injured- one dead
shooter arrested
Im really surprised that the shooter is still alive
and suprised that it apparently took place in a dorm

I feel so bad for the school community and for the 2nd time in a year ( although unrelated apparently)

Fox news: at least 20 dead, gunman dead

emeraldkity, unfortunately that information is no longer accurate, per both the local and national news outlets.

http://www.roanoke.com/news/nrv/breaking/wb/113294

"12:18 p.m.

Virginia Tech police Chief Wendell Flinchum is saying there at least 20 fatalities in this morning’s shootings."

Very sadly, EK, CNN is reporting 20 fatalities.

I just saw a newsflash that says 22 are dead. I hope this is wrong and it’s injured, not dead.

shooter is dead…self inflicted versus police…not sure as of 12:30pm

20 killed; 21 injured.

semi-automatic weapon…gee, how is it that the Constitution protected his right to “bear arms.”

1was killed at West Ambler Johnson residence hall, and at least 19 more were killed in various locations wihin Norris Hall, which is an engineering building. The news conference at VT just confirmed all of that, and that the shooter is also dead, inside Norris Hall. They could not say if he was killed, or killed himself–they are still investigating.

A young man who had been injured in Norris described the gunman as being in his 20’s, asian and wearing a black jacket and maroon hat (could be a VT hat, as their colors are maroon and orange.)

Still waiting to hear about some of the students we know there–one of my friends said that her son had been in Ambler this morning, but had left to go his sports practice about 20 minutes before it happened. She is still shaking from this!

Classes are cancelled today and tomorrow.

Our prayers are with everyone concerned!

I am stunned - so many young lives - this is heartbreaking news. May God be with their families and friends.

This is ubelievably awful. What a tragedy.

it sounds very confusing
possibly two shooters- one dead- one arrested
20 people injured- 21 dead?

hard to fathom

Unspeakably horrible.

As of 944 Arizona time: 22 dead 21 wounded, gunman is dead. I hope this isn’t a terrorist incident. This comes three days before the 7th anniversary of Columbine. Pray for the victims and their families.

CNN is saying that at least 22 are killed. Still not sure what the order of events are but it sounds like the shooting started around 7:30 am with people calling 911, but they did not lock down the campus for at least 2 hours. They locked it down once a second round of shooting started.

Police chief at the briefing stated it was a single gunman, and he is deceased.

This is tragic beyond words.

As an alum of VT, my heart is so heavy right now. VT is located in one of the most peacefully calm places on earth. That something so horrible could happen there is beyond words. I pray for everyone affected by this tragedy.

This is unbelievably terrible.
One of my husband’s college students was killed last year in a murder-suicide, and the campus is still feeling the pain of those deaths. I can not imagine the heartbreak that Virginia Tech will be experiencing for years to come.
I feel so sorry for everyone who is being touched by this tragedy.

Say a prayer for the parents and students at Va. Tech.
Worse nightmare.

Thoughts and prayers to all at VT - such a tragidy for so many - I just cannot imagine…
