<p>CNN and MSNBC are still listing 22 dead. Only Fox News has 32 dead, listing Fed. sources (FBI).</p>
<p>The news said it was standard procedure to search for a 2nd shooter after one is found. I don’t think there’s been confirmation that there were multiple shooters.</p>
<p>I’ve heard that the shooter had two guns and heard a type of gun named. I don’t know enough about guns to know if they were automatic or not.</p>
<p>I haven’t been in touch with student life yet, but I imagine the residence staff and counseling staff will be expecting more students taking advantage of their services in the coming days.</p>
<p>Reports are the gunman had two 9MM guns.</p>
<p>I just can’t imagine this can keep getting worse minute by minute. I talked to my son earlier at UVA and all of his friends at VT are okay, but I’m just physically sick thinking about the poor families that are hearing the absolute worst news today. We also have several friends who have children at VT and we’re praying for them as well as everyone with ties to VT.</p>
<p>There are no words to describe the feeling. College campuses are generally safe places; unfortunately, they’re also generally open places. My thoughts are with the entire VA Tech community.</p>

<p>There’s such chaos going on that I’m sure the fatality count and description of the shooter won’t be accurate until later in the day. It is extremely hard to get accurate information on this kind of breaking story.</p>
<p>That’s why the more reliable news media likeCNN, haven’t described the shooter or recently changed their fatality count for a while.</p>
<p>Listening to the student - Jason - being interviewed by phone is heartbreaking as to what he and others experienced - the last statement of the call is the WHY - why was notification delayed to the rest of the campus - why wasn’t the campus notified and into lock down after the initial ‘‘incident’’.</p>
<p>I can’t imagine what all the survivors are feeling.</p>
<p>Just finished talking to S1, and another friend whose son has been one of our favorite kids since the boys were 4 years old–so far all the kids we have heard about are ok. S1 still doesn’t know about everyone–he’s pretty shaken up that it happened, as are we all. </p>

<p>aparent5~I totally agree!!! I have told my kids for years that there is no good reason to have a gun. And a semi-automatic??? What possible reason is there to be able to buy one??? Our own new U.S. Senator from Virginia, good ole’ gun totin’ Jim, is so much in favor of gun ownership it makes me absolutely sick!!!</p>

<p>I notice this in the Washington Post story, and I am praying that the highest reported figure – 32 – is an overestimate.</p>

<p>29 being treated several in critical care facilities.</p>
<p>I pray it is a drastic overestimate too NSM, but when the feds tell you its 32 dead; I would go with that figure. That at least 20 dead PC was at least an hour and half ago.</p>

<p>Terrible day for all virginians and the nation. My condolences go out to all the families of the dead and the wounded. So many kids from our high school (in NOVA) go to VTech. I am hugging my kids extra hard today.</p>

<p>There is no explanation for human emotion. They are now saying he chained the door shut to that particular building before killing everyone.</p>
