Congrats to all those accepted! My son is a happy freshman at Vandy and has loved his first semester. He decided to go random for roommates this year and they get along great!

Hi i’m super late but I figured I would post my stats for next years applicants.
I was accepted into the School of Engineering!

My school does gpa weird but mine is a 102 weighted
I took total of 5 APS sophomore and junior year. Four 5’s and a 4 on the other
Taking 3 this year.
1560 SAT
800 chem subject test (took more but only sent this one)

ECs:
Vice president of Robotics Club and lead of our software sub-team.
Internship in computer science doing website design,
from 10-12th grade I worked every day after school and on the weekends at a doctors office (got a letter of recommendation from my boss),
Vice president of my math honor society,
Tutor 5-6 kids outside of school,
Lifeguard over the summer,
volunteering
those are the main things and then I had some other stuff that I don’t think added much to my application.

Awards:
Computer science award/scholarship through my school

Did not do an interview

wrote my supplement on a Women in Engineering conference that went to at NYU and how it made me interested in studying computer science.

Hi! My son is ED2 and received national naval scholarship.

Hi! My son was accepted to USNA and NROTC scholarship on the same day and is trying to decide between Vandy NROTC and USNA - my son would love to talk with any NROTC accepted students before he makes his final decision if they are willing.

Congrats to your son, that’s awesome! My son received the NROTC scholarship last October and was accepted ED1 last Friday to Vandy, so has withdrawn his USNA and USMA apps. Very tough decisions indeed, but he’s super excited to be joining the unit there. I’m not really sure he can help your son out, but maybe ask your son to visit the unit there and visit USNA if he hasn’t already. Good luck and congrats to your son!

Does anyone know when merit scholarship ( such as CV or chancellors) decisions come out for admitted ed1 students?

hey did u get in?

accepted!!! does anyone know when vanderbilt sends out stuff in the mail for admitted students?

congratsss!! i applied for ed 2 hopefully i get in lol but i got a 1350 on the sat and idkkk

My son was accepted to Arts & Sciences in ED1 - posting his stats in case it helps someone in ED2, RD or beyond:
3.9 GPA UW, 4.8 W
36 ACT
SAT Subject Matter: 800 Math II, 760 Physics
Large but respected public HS in the Midwest
5 for his Calc AP; taking most of his AP/IB tests at the end of this year
Good recs, probably not superlative
Solid but not super exciting essays that focused on interest in science; really strong on Why Vandy (he fell in love with it when we toured)
ECs: state and national awards in business club competitions; works part-time for non-profit; most of his spare time spent on sports - varsity athlete all 4 years, came in top 10 for state this year and team won (But not recruited for sports)
Caucasian, no hooks

I expect what got him in were his strong stats and his why Vandy essay, which I think showed how much he had studied the school, its resources and why it was such a great fit specifically for his personality and interests. That would be my one bit of advice to any other applicants: when you write your “why [fill in the blank school]” essay, make sure it’s very custom tailored to the specific school. You shouldn’t be able to just swap in the name of any other school to which you’re applying and have it read exactly the same.

@24and26Parent - There’s a “why Vandy essay?”

@HalfMoon22 Nope - my son used the space for supplemental information for that purpose.

Accepted through ED Round 1 to HOD!

Here are my stats for anyone curious / anxious as I was:

GPA: 3.65 / 4
SAT: 1590 (Only took it once)

SAT Subject Tests: Chemistry - 800, Math Level 2 - 800, Physics - 770, Biology - 740

AP Scores: AP English Language - 5, APUSH - 5

High School Background: Very prestigious private school Out of State

Senior Year Curriculum Rigor: Taking 5 AP classes, so quite rigorous

Sports: Varsity Swimming / Varsity Water Polo (both for all years in HS)

Extracurriculars: Multiple leadership roles throughout the school, Model UN Club, Political Club, Founded my own club through school, Worked at a coffeeshop as a barista over the summer, Multiple longterm Community Service projects (tutoring, etc.), Internship at law office, Piano

Honors: National Merit Semifinalist, Community Service Presidential Award, National Spanish Exam Gold Award x 2 (Levels 4 and 5)

Essays: They were pretty good, in my opinion.

Does anyone know when the Ingram scholarship weekend will be? I did not see a separate thread but did see some people asking about their scholarships here so thinking maybe someone has been notified. I have seen it mentioned that last year it was Feb 17-19 but that was not a weekend.

The dates should be around the same time this year. It isn’t necessarily on a weekend. Likely a Sunday-Tuesday again.

@Sox666 Thank you! If you have any other info on the program or know someone who has participated in the scholarship / is a scholar, will you please PM me?

Has anyone been notified yet that they are moving forward in the merit scholarship selection process? I thought that in prior years semi-finalists were notified by now and then finalists were scheduled for interviews in mid february. Has anyone recieved confirmation on either?

Has anyone looked at the First Year Housing Application which came out Monday yet? I am wondering how people interpreted the question about overnight quests. . . .
