Vanderbilt Class of 2028 Official Thread

This post is quite uncalled for and inaccurate. You have chosen to voluntarily take part in a forum that discusses college admission and stats, regardless of how you feel about it, are a confirmed part of that process. The CDS for every school will tell you which and to what extent any stat is considered but no CDS shows that all stats are irrelevant for the vast majority of college applications. Yes, character is one of those considerations, and as you have noted is hard to ‘list’ here but that doesn’t make listing any other stats wrong. I wish your brother all the best in the acceptances he’s earned, but your post doesn’t need to shame others in the process.

If I call and ask why we don’t have a FA counselor on our page, should I call admissions or FA?

I meant that on a place like CC, which is mostly filled with high stats kids, our stats always end up looking similar and so it’s not usually helpful. How do they then determine which high stats kid to let in? The other factors that cannot be shown on this page. So trying to make predictions based on data points usually doesn’t work here.

I don’t think it’s worth calling. We will know if it means anything or not in under 8 hours.

Who have I “shamed”? That was not my intention. My intention was to let the students know that the stats of others should not make them feel hopeless. Comparing yourself is a bad thing to do in these moments. Dont make me look like the bad guy here because I’m just trying to encourage the students to hold out hope.
People on CC made me feel awful two years ago. They made me think I wasn’t going to get anything based off of stats. But I got everything that I wanted! So that’s it. I’m just trying to tell them to stay hopeful and don’t compare themselves. :peace_symbol:

Hey guys

Question about merit aid - do they offer just three 100% aid scholarships, or other partial scholarships with admissions letter too? I mean, if someone does not receive the three big ones, can they still get some aid?

Hey guys I don’t know if you anyone in here is in the same situation, but I went to a early-college high school that allowed me to Finnish my high school diploma and an associates degree through a local community college, fast forward 4 years I’ve complemented a associates in chemistry and an associates in science, some courses I need to transfer bc im pre med is organic chem, molecular bio, calc, genetics, general Chem, general bio, and the thing is on the common app for Vandy they asked me if I was one of those highschool students who completed a undergrad degree during high school and I marked yes, my question is A: do you think they have already done credit evaluations and B: where do I check to see if my college degrees will be allowed in.

They have already made decisions, and probably can’t change anything if you mean to add something to your app (like credit scores). Might have misunderstood your question though.

I just wonder what the rationale is behind some people having it and others not having it.

Yes! You should check out their FA page they have even divided up info for different types of applicants (int and domestic).

We will know in a while ig. Personally, I don’t think that those who do not have FA officers will be autorejected

Do you all see registration is not open when you try to register for Dore For a Day?

Yes

Dang then maybe it’s just not open to anyone lol

It will open when and if you get in.

Do not see anything in Fin aid 'cept this

Also submitted ISFAA (Intl here)

You would not see the other stuff because international people don’t have US tax forms.

My kid is similar high stats, high achieving extra currics etc. and also went straight RD rather than ED1 or ED2. Did apply for merit scholarship by Dec. 1 and didn’t get any of those and was wondering if he was thus out of contention to get in RD ? Was wondering if they give merit to full pay, unhooked, high stats RD kids they want, and rest are out of luck? Am I being overly pessimistic? any thoughts?

No definently not. Only the top 10% of the admitted RD group get scholarships according to what I heard at a Vanderbilt admission session. The other 90% will get in today. And there are other smaller scolarships avaliable for that 90%.
