Better to ask for permission ahead of time or seek forgiveness after the fact?
my folks are flying down with me and we are staying another day or two to take a tour together, etc
guys whats my chances of getting off the waitlist for Vandy bc I need to know so I can commit to UMICH or WAHSU now or to hang on.
We are going with forgiveness after the fact. My husband will show up but be fully prepared to spend the day doing his own thing (he may prefer that ).
My advice would be to commit to the school you like best of those two and to get excited about it. Then, submit a LOCI to vandy. Some kids will get off list. No way to know!
Totally agree on the LOCI. S24 was deferred ED I and I really think the LOCI moved the needle. Basically: I will definitely come even though I no longer am obliged to, and (maybe more importantly) here are the specific reasons why I decided Vandy was and continues to be the place for meāciting what he learned on his campus visit that resonated with him.
But also, WashU and Michiganāgreat options!
Are you guys likely going to Vandy? If I recall there were a lot of irons in the fire.
commit to one of those and move on. let someone else who doesnāt have those awesome choices have your Vandy spot, if there is one.
Her heart is with vandy. My pocketbook is with Emory because she was selected as a woodruff scholar today. Free college! This will not be an easy decision. Back to vandy next week!
Oh what a wonderful but hard situation to be in! Iād be rooting for Emory too but completely understand that itās a tough choice for your daughter. Huge congratulations to her !
Thank you!!
Wow! Thatās awesome. That would be really tough to turn down!
Great options.
Does anyone know how housing assignments work for incoming freshmen?
Google freshmen housing Vanderbilt and you can find detailed Info but registration begins 4/8. Closed in June. You canāt select a room. They also prefer random roommate assignment and explain why on the website.
Has anyone committed and paid the enrollment deposit? We did so on Thursday but havenāt received a receipt or an email to establish a VUId. Should we be worried or will it eventually come?
From what I understand it takes a couple days for the admission office at most schools to inform the IT department, housing, etc that you are coming and it takes a few more days after that for them to set everything up for you. If you donāt hear by Thursday of next week, just give them a call and ask what is going on.
Same. We paid. Donāt tbink weāve heard.
From what Iāve read, chances are about the same (5-6%). But, you also may not find out until June or July - which could mean de-committing from somewhere else. Thatās just a decision you need to prepare for (i.e. losing enrollment deposits, etc.)
Did anyone apply to Peabody on here? If so, can you let me know whether you were accepted or rejected and what you think you did right or wrong?
