<p>it’s not just the GPA, it’s also what you took that matters! when you’re comparing stats you have to factor that in</p>
<p>After what happened to my transcript (see page 23 of the thread), my admissions counselor is still acting somewhat upbeat. Is this a good sign or just false hope?</p>

I should find out tomorrow, or maybe even today if I call. My counselor asked me to give her a call in one week, when I called her last Tuesday. So hopefully I will know tomorrow but I’m thinking I might just call today and see if there are any updates.</p>

<p>I strongly suspect that
A.) My essay was quite weak IMO
B.) My classes didn’t translate into interest in my intended major on the application (econ)
C.) I don’t even want to be an econ major anymore, maybe Vandy knew that somehow</p>
<p>so if I can alter those I think I have a shot…</p>

Junior applicant from SUNY Stony Brook
3.6, chemistry major
HS record - atrocious whatever it was
SAT - 1200 no writing in 2007 (ancient, but still not good)
ECs - 2 research assistant jobs, hospital volunteer, chem department TA, independent TA
Letters of rec may have been okay. Not sure.</p>

<p>Ugggh. STILL no response today (my app was completed Feb. 1st). On top of it, my admissions counselor is out of his office and not answering emails the entire month of April… and the normal admissions staff cannot discuss decisions with me
