I believe Vandy makes it quite simple to double major from other colleges. Someone who already goes there may know better though.

biglawhopes, I’m fairly sure she can double major in CAS and Peabody (That’s what I’m doing if I’m accepted, so I really hope I’m right about this). I read something in the catalog saying that if you’re in CAS and you want to second major in something in Peabody that your Peabody requirements are slightly different than only Peabody students, and you also just have to take at least 90 hours at CAS.

Unrelatedly I got an email this morning from my advisor and now I’m REALLY confused:

I have followed up on your recent email and everything is in order. We have everything we need. You should hear from our office soon. Thanks for following up with us to make sure everything was in order. Please feel free to contact me if you have any other questions.

Okay, So I’m glad they have everything, but they’ve had it since effing March so how come I haven’t heard anything yet? ITS JUNE.

looks like youre just going to have to wait it out

Ok here’s the scoop

Applied as a junior

but wait listed at Vanderbilt?

my ? is
what do i do?

To those who are attending Vanderbilt in the Fall, how helpful have they been with financial aid?

A lot of people double major in CAS and Peabody. Typically HOD + Social Science. Although I don’t know the specific degree requirements, what I do know is that these kids have Peabody core requirements instead of AXLE. The requirements for Peabody are a little easier/more manageable than AXLE.

Vandy’s FA packages are crazy good. In fact, because Vandy has a no-loan policy, it’s actually cheaper for me to go here than it was at my in-state public, UT. Plus, if your financial circumstances were to change ie parent loses a job, they’re very helpful and timely in providing additional assistance.

Vandy is right up there with the other Ivies when it comes to financial aid.

@pr0616, have they said when they will decide by?

end of june
beginning of july
…

UGHH still wait listed!!! WHY does someone up there hate me :-(

@ benjskim:

I pretty much got a full ride… they have excellent financial aid packages.

I am currently going into my sophomore year at the University of Central Florida with 33 credits completed. The end of this upcoming year I will of completed 66 credits. My current GPA is around a 3.337 (didn’t put a lot of time into studying), but is going to be around 3.5-3.6 at time of applying. High school gpa around 3.4 with decent sta scores very involved Captain of the varsity swim team, Historian and co-founder of an organization helping children in Uganda, volunteer lifeguard as well as a working lifeguard and red cross volunteer. In college I am current the Vice President of Philanthropy for my Fraternity raising over $20,000 last year for autism awareness and plan to continue to do the same this year. In addition to my volunteer work for my fraternity I also volunteer my time at the Habitat for Humanity and on campus. With great letters of recommendation from both high school and college teachers what is the likelihood of my acceptance.

Anybody off the waitlist yet?

I still didn’t get off the wait list. I have two weeks to send my deposit for Emory University. I wonder what is taking Vanderbilt so long to make a decision…I hope to hear something within a week…with the a situation of deciding between Vanderbilt or Emory.

Anyone else hear anything?

I also wanted to know what is the best college to apply to, would applying to college of art and sciences be harder to get into then peabody. Is coming out of belmont of lipscomb better since from what I have heard there relations with vanderbilt are better?

Is there a reason you’d prefer Vanderbilt over Emory? I’m from NJ as well, central, and hang out mostly in the staten island/nyc area and after visiting both Vanderbilt and Emory I would have much preferred attending Emory if I had been accepted to either, sadly I wasn’t.

I was accepted as a transfer to Vanderbilt University and was assigned housing to the Carmichael Towers, but I don’t know much about it. Compared to the other housing halls and dormitories, how social are the Carmichael Towers?

I heard that most of the transfers end up in Kissam. Is there any truth to this? If so, which one of the six halls are they mostly in, or are they evenly distributed among the six? Which of the Kissam Halls are social/non-social?

Do you think it would be better for me to live among fellow transfers or should I stick with the Carmichael Towers?

Also, how are the living amenities of the Carmichael towers and the other halls?

Thanks for any help you can give.

I got assigned to Carmichael Towers 2. From what I’ve heard, it’s more sociable because it is coed. The smaller housing facilities are usually single dorms. I’m really confused on how the transfer housing thing works, but are you moving in on the 19th?

Yea I am.

From what I can gather, most transfers seem to be located in Kissam. I wonder if it would be better to live among fellow transfers.

Regarding the people who transferred this year; did any of you transfer as a junior?

Hi,

what did you include in your essay since vandy doesn’t have a supplement?

Also what was your transfer gpa?
