which school has stronger programs? i’m looking to major in something like biology or neuroscience.

I believe CMU has stronger science programs than Vandy.

But, since you’re pre-med, GPA, MCAT scores and recommendations will be more important than undergrad university reputation.

Vandy and CMU are very different environments. You’ll do better in an environment that will allow you to focus and have fun. Visit both and then decide.

Biology is very strong at Vanderbilt.

Carnegie Mellon has the lowest yield rate out of USNEWS top 25 colleges. The students tend to be more socially awkward, while Vanderbilt tends to attract lots of gregarious/extroverted types.

vandy, carnegie mellon is more of a computer school

I was born and raised in Pittsburgh and have spent a lot of time at CMU with friends.

Speaking purely on the basis of social life and the city environment: Vanderbilt. Hands down.
