Vanderbilt Waitlist 2024

A couple weeks ago I did some math based on their typical RD yield and typical waitlist draw as reported in the CDS. Without getting too much into it (mostly because I can’t remember exactly how I did it, but I swear it made sense at the time), the 800 additional students are not nearly enough to fill the freshman class if there is a dip in yield. My numbers came out with the same typical draw from the waitlist and that was assuming just a small yield difference. If yield is more significantly affected, they will need to go deeper into the waitlist, even with the extra admits.

Daughter just got off the waitlist at Duke, so she will be forfeiting her spot on the Vanderbilt waitlist. Good luck to all of you.

Congrats- they are definitely dipping in to the waitlists early even for top schools.

I wonder why this thread isnt as popular as some of the other top school’s waitlists threads. Strange.

I’m hoping it’s possible that Vanderbilt put less people on the waitlist this year since they admitted more (which would explain less activity on this thread). I guess you never know.

Hope you are right, OH2020MOM! I also wonder if it’s because Vanderbilt hasn’t actually turned to the waitlist yet, unlike some other schools? My daughter is also on WashU waitlist, and that has more comments - but most are related to movement on their waitlist (offers, etc.)

Shoutout to Berkeley and LA, whose waitlist threads have over 30 pages each. Berkeley hasn’t even gone to the waitlist yet.

I don’t know if this information matters to you all, but Rice University started pulling from their waitlist on 4/27. Rice called applicants around 8 pm CT. There is hope you us!

someone on reddit got off the waitlist yesterday via a phone call from her AO. but no one else has gotten off

Is a phone call the only notification method? I’m not sure my son knows how to answer a phone. LOL

@DrSenioritis are you talking about Rice or Vanderbilt?

@DrSenioritis thats interesting. I haven’t seen anything on reddit about Vanderbilt yet.

I read the decision letter and it says that they may be able to offer people place off the waitlist in late April.

the person didn’t make a post on reddit they left a comment on my post. they said their school has a good relationship w vandy and that they are in state. also that they are premed w a bio related major so that means arts and sciences. also i’m not sure abt phone calling being the only method i think they send emails too. I think this was just an acceptance prior to the first wave so that’s why they called her.

I received my offer of admission one hour ago. I’m OOS, majoring in economics in the College of Arts and Sciences.

@DesiBoyeeee2222 Congrats! Did you get a phone call or email?

Email

@DesiBoyeeee2222 Congrats! Will you plan to commit? How much time do they give you to decide upon receiving offer?

Anyone else get notifications of acceptance? Was this the first wave of acceptances from the waitlist?
