Vanderbilt Waitlist 2024

I got off the waitlist today for Peabody

@td1234 I did similar things. Sent in a letter of continued interest, had a teacher write an additional letter of recommendation, had my guidance counselor send updated grades and she also sent my admissions officer an email on my behalf expressing how perfect I am for vandy, and I did not receive an offer today. congrats to your brother though!

@mlin2740 Which program/major at Peabody specifically?

My major is special education

@DrSenioritis In a same position as you…did a lot to try to express my continued interest but didn’t have any luck today and getting a little discouraged. Do we think they will continue to take a lot people off the waitlist next week? Hard to stay positive…

I am in the same situation as both of you guys, I sent a loci discussing my research with NASA and my community college classes and my updated grades and discussing why I would be a great fit for Vanderbilt and what programs I want to join and that it is my number 1 choice and then I had a teacher send a recommendation letter as well. And again in mid April I sent another loci discussing my work with the local state university in testing and creating 3D printed masks for local health care workers. I put my all into it but helpfully we will get admission offers this week. Whatever happens guys we will be more than ok, we’ve made it this far and there’s a bigger plan for all of us, stay strong and stay positive and don’t stress. We’ve done all we could it’s up to luck now but everything happens for a reason. We will all continue to work hard and strive for greatness and we will get to where we want to be. Congratulations to everyone who got accepted I wish you all the best, hopefully we can join you all.

@DrSenioritis @user1289012 @futurehuncho rooting for all of y’all! I’m sure wherever it is y’all end up, you’ll do great things! If Vandy is your number one regardless, I recommend sending in another small note/email now that the first wave of waitlist offers has gone out. It won’t hurt to show you’re still patiently waiting to hear back. Patience is a virtue, after all - and one I think Vandy will appreciate!

Vanderbilt is my dream school. I’m #1 in my class with a 1550, strong ECs, all of that. Someone else from my school got in and I got waitlisted. I wrote a LOCI, my guidance counselor called my AO and vouched for me, I set up a phone conversation with my AO, yet I was not part of the wave of acceptances yesterday. I truly don’t understand what more I need to do to get in.

@kostabosk Do multiple students from your school often get admitted to Vanderbilt each year? If yes, then don’t worry! I feel like you’ve demonstrated enough interest after being waitlisted that you should have a good shot of getting a offer in the next wave. But if your school doesn’t have a history of sending more than one student to Vandy each year (or doesn’t send many students to Vandy in general), then it may unfortunately be the case that Vandy has already chosen the best from your school/district already. Even then though, I’d still hope for the best. Could you maybe ask another teacher to write you a recommendation? And have you sent in an updated copy of your grades to Vandy already? If you haven’t, doing so might help your cause.

How far are apart are the waves generally? A couple days? A week? Do you think we may hear back again next week?

@user1289012 last year they were 10 days apart. first wave 5/3, second wave 5/13. who knows how corona will change this, though. i would say next thursday is the earliest

It may come down to EFC, right? Vanderbilt’s waitlist is need aware. As a general rule, colleges are hurting for money rn. The less need you have, the greater the likelihood of being selected…I’m speculating, but it makes sense, doesn’t it?

@user1289012 this is the data that I gleaned from last year’s waitlist process (all the info is from CC posts). This year might be a bit different because of corona, so it could be that my analysis is a bit off.

Last year, waitlisted students got their first email from Vanderbilt asking them to confirm their interest in the waitlist on 04/25, and then the first wave of offers went out on 05/03. This year, the first email came out on 04/23, and the first wave went out 05/01, so the gap between the first email and the first wave this year and last year was the same = 8 days.

Last year, the second email regarding continued interest went out 05/09, and the second wave of offers was sent on 05/13. The gap between the first email and second email was two weeks, so expect a second email this year on 05/07. And the gap between the second email and second wave was four days, so expect the second wave to come out on 05/11 this year.

FYI: Last year, the third email regarding continued interest went out 05/16, third wave of offers was sent on 05/22. If there is a third email/wave this year, expect a third email on 05/14, and a third wave of offers on 05/20.

Finally, the fourth email regarding continued interest went out 05/28 last year, fourth wave of offers was sent out 05/31. If there is a fourth email/wave this year, expect a fourth email on 05/26, and a fourth wave of offers on 06/01.

Good luck to all!

@DaGator can’t be sure, but my brother didn’t apply for financial aid and he got off the waitlist yesterday.

I just saw on a reddit sub that someone randomly clicked on their portal without receiving an email and there was a new continued interest box saying “would you attend if accepted to Vanderbilt” and when they clicked yes it said congratulations! This seems very new… Did anyone else have this?

@Mathpersonokayno I just checked and didn’t see anything. Is it possible that the person was part of the first wave but simply did not receive an email notifying of the status change in his admission portal?

Also, do you guys expect them to accept more or less people off of the waitlist this year given the situation with coronavirus? Personally, I was thinking that there may be less people willing to attend since Vanderbilt it is an expensive private school and people may be more inclined to choose their state schools which are closer to home and less expensive. However, this may just be my hopeful thinking haha

Yesterday at noon pst, I received an email telling me I got off the waitlist! In the portal, I was given 36 hours to accept my offer of admission, and then I was able to see my financial aid. After that, I was given 72 hours to submit my deposit/intent to enroll.

I submitted a LOCI, and I’m not sure if my counselor did anything or not. I know there are multiple waves, and I know that even the super highest ranked schools are pulling from their waitlist, so I think there’s even more hope this year! Lmk if you have any questions!

I sent a LOCI and had my vice principal write a letter of recommendation to my admissions officer but I haven’t heard from them yet. I’m really hoping I end up at Vandy tho. I absolutely love the culture there.

I just got an email from Vandy about interest in being on the waitlist. Did everyone get this?
