Vanderbilt Waitlist for Fall 2024

Wanted to get this thread going :pray:t3:

So do we just email the loci to the admissions office?

What do they ask for when you click the link to opt into the waitlist in the portal (do they ask you to upload a LOCI or updates there). Just curious what to have ready if we do opt in.

It just redirects to the What’s next page. We noticed on the application tab for upload materials there is an option for waitlist update. So we aren’t sure if the loci should be sent by uploading it, sending it to admissions, or the regional admissions officer.

what is the probability of getting off the waitlist? compared to other schools?

yeah I was also confused if we send the loci through the portal or directly to admissions?

higher than most other schools ! vandy actually sets aside spots from their waitlist and has accepted anywhere from 100-600 off their waitlist in previous yrs. ofc this year has been big on waitlists so i guess we’ll see

My feeling is its probably easier if you are OOS because harder to lure those students in some cases but I could definitely be wrong.

why do you think it would be hard to lure OOS students?

Read somewhere they are not as “need blind” with the waitlist. Thoughts?

I don’t believe many schools are need blind with the waitlist. They just call it “not ranked” which means they can choose any students for any reasons off the waitlist. If a full pay student withdraws, then they might choose another full pay student over others in the waitlist. If they went over budget in their financial aid, then they might have to choose more full pay students from the waitlist.

Anyone have an LOCI example or template they’re willing to share?

Does anyone know if Vanderbilt gives out merit aid to admitted waitlist students? I know years ago they did not, but didn’t know if things changed with the enrollment debacles schools are having.

From the Waitlist FAQ:
Will my financial aid award be affected by a waitlist admission?

Demonstrated financial need will be met for all students admitted from the waitlist who have previously submitted complete FAFSA and CSS Profile forms to the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships (OFSA). If you have need-based financial aid questions, contact OSFA at (800) 288-0204.

Yes, I was looking more for merit aid info, not needs-based information.

Does anyone know how to get your specific admissions officers email?

If you go to your portal click connect in the upper right, then click the link for Meet our Team and scroll down to admissions officers it will give you a list of AO and you can search for your region.

I did that but it doesnt show my admissions officers email.

We never knew my kid’s AO but we searched by region and found two serving our area. She emailed a question to one of them and got a general response from admissions. If your asking about a Loci, we were told to use the upload materials function on the applicant page for the LOCI and to have her counselor send first semester grades directly to admissions.

How many people are likely on the WL?
