Done. And 5 minutes early. ek, looks like costs are the same.

thats good - I am eligible to upgrade now if I used the mifi #- but I might think about it some more.

I didn’t order the phone. The place where you could transfer your discount to another line didn’t then give you option of ordering an iPhone and then the terms and conditions stated that if you order an iPhone, you couldn’t discontinue any of the service you ordered even if I returned the phone so I was afraid I would be stuck paying $30 a month for unlimited web/email for my husband’s line and he doesn’t use either on his phone. I will get one when I can have someone on the phone or store transfer it to the line. It did say I could get the 32gb for $199.99 or the 16gb for $99.99 because of having a $100 discount.

^^^ That sounds wise.

I’m going to wait and buy it in a Verizon or Apple store after the 10th. I’ve waited this long, what’s another week or so? I was going to cool my jets until the iPhone 5 eventually came out, but I realize I won’t be able to resist. ;)

Little did I know, I was so rare. I know I am throwing money away. We have two individual plans.

Well, getting up at 2 am was a big waste of sleep time. I called customer service at 6:15, on hold for about 20 minutes, they said go ahead and order the phone under my husband’s line and switch it after it came so I ordered the phone online at 6:40, no problems. The reviews are saying the call quality is great and no dropped calls like AT&T but the data loading is a lot slower than AT&T. Hopefully my son will be happy with it. If he is, I imagine my younger son and I will each end up with one too. I got him the 32gb since we had the $100 discount.

I wonder how much memory that the phone OS takes up.
I currently have a new ipod touch that is only 8 GB & I imagine I would use more space for photos, but …( & I see they just updated Myst- that is almost 600MB by itself)

Mine is AT&T. What is a dropped call?

BunsenBurner,

A dropped call is when your call is terminated unexpectedly due to “technical difficulties” (by that I mean the carrier’s fault and not yours).

Thanks! I already googled it. I guess I’m was lucky that I might have experienced this only a few times (e.g. when walking into an underground garage or something like that). From what I read, both Verizon and ATT have these issues depending on their antenna coverage in a given area. So while the hotspot sounds interesting, I’m not tempted to run and switch.

Okay, this probably explains it:

Brier also has this very handy comparison chart of the major carriers’ plans:

Good thing I ordered my Verizon iPhone Thursday morning. They are all sold out for now. Just got the email that my iPhone has shipped - scheduled to arrive on Monday 2/7.

Got mine this morning! The setup directions were VERY minimal. I learned that the old phone needs to be off to complete activation and to turn off wifi before transferring contacts. Gotta say I almost always really like Verizon customer service. Even if they don’t know how to fix something, they are extremely polite and resourceful.

Best Buy Mobile (in Best Buy stores or there are some standalone) will also be carrying them as of Thursday (2/10). You can renew your Verizon contract, sign up for a new one, etc. with them. Not sure how much inventory they will have, as much as they can get I imagine.
