veterans honored at football game

<p>H and I attended the UF-FAU football game last weekend. We were inspired by the way that veterans were honored throughout the game- at practically every timeout. </p>

Truly awesome when 90,000 people stood and cheered these soldiers.</p>

<p>They had video clips running on the big monitors, of soldiers in Iraq giving a shoutout to their parents, girlfriends, siblings, friends. At one point in the game, they had several UF alumni currently serving come out onto the field, and gave a short bio of each- where they served/were serving, what they had done. </p>

<p>This is a great initiative; hope lots of schools are participating!</p>

<p>I was at the game. It was definitely a nice gesture for the veterans.</p>

<p>Then again, UF also honored every single other person in the stadium after every single play so that diluted it.</p>

<p>This is good to hear. Last summer while waiting (a long time) for baggage at the Atlanta airport a worker stated on the intercom to applaud for some returning soldiers from Iraq and the whole place erupted into applause for them. I think the soldiers were quite surprised and a little unsure of how to handle the attention but I think they enjoyed the positive response.</p>
