video game nerds

What is it about video games that you guys like so much?

I couldn’t help but begin to crush on a very smart boy who likes video games…If I go out with him, will he likely want to play video games with me?

Maybe, or maybe not… Depends on the person.

Many people are video game nerds because…

a). They don’t like to accept reality(the plot isn’t that good) and video games are their sole escape from their soulless, friendless worldly existences. This may include a lack of interest in dating or going out.

b). They like life, they just like video games better. Video games are the best things in existence to them and nothing else is really as interesting. This may also include a lack of interest in dating or going out.

c). They play video games because they have nothing better to do with time to kill. They may jump at the chance to go out with someone of the opposite gender.

I hope it’s choice c) for you… :)

Hey, not everyone who’s a game geek has a ‘soulless, friendless worldy existence’…games are just, you know, fun sometimes. It’s nice to do something mindless once in a while, and they’re a lot of fun with friends. (But I’m female, so that might be a moot point in context of the discussion.)

Gryffon’s right; it depends.

On one hand, there are guys that like video games, but play them casually, knowing that video games are not real.

Then, there are guys that spend 24 hours a day on Halo 3, screaming at 8-year olds for being noobs and cursing and destroying every part of the English language.

Now, hopefully the first guy is the person you like.

And, what’s wrong with playing video games once in a while? Even people that generally don’t like “hardcore gaming” can sometimes get into a more casual game like Guitar Hero.

I only play video games when I go over to my friends house and we have nothing better to do.

What makes video games ‘nerdy’ in the first place? I can understand someone who just plays em all day and does nothing else, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with playing them once in awhile.

Wow, you ______ have never picked up a controller in your life…

I play videogames because they’re, uh, fun/entertaining. MGS 4 is worth becoming a nerd over. Hey, it gets your mind off other dirtbag activities!

(anyone who’d take his standard dose of drugs over this and many other games is legally stupid…95% rule in effect)

I have nothing against them. I actually used to be a small gamer myself. Before high school. I was just wondering if guys like to play games with their girl friends.

I would consider myself a gamer, but most likely I would not play games with my girlfriend. It would be kind of awkward. Most of my friends who are gamers also don’t really play video games with their gf’s, but I mean if the gf was cool with it, you never know

No, idk anyone that would want to make a girl play with them

I dunno about you guys, but Grand Theft Auto IV came out today, so more of you will becoming the so-called “video game nerds” you’re mildly annoyed with.

Besides, [GTA IV](Grand Theft Auto IV - Wikipedia) will become The Great Gatsby of video gaming by the time the magazines are done praising it. Yes, I said it. The game has depth.

My bf is a video game nerd. him and his friends usually make us play supersmash brothers and guitar hero with them, but usually get frustrated because I am so bad (or they gang up on me because I am an easy target in the game). But they don’t try to get me to play the more intense stuff. They are nerds, but i just love when they sit around and make their own noises to the games…

GTA IV is overrated. Wait 6 weeks for a truly epic game.

In comparison to MGS 4, yes, GTA IV will be looked down upon.

However, you don’t need to degrade one game to promote another. Both games will be historically good on the critical and commercial level.

The thing is, they’re two different games. Both with great storylines (assuming MGS 4 makes sense like the 3rd installment and unlike the 2nd installment), cinematics, gameplay and graphics. But they’re two different games.

I will say this: playing those games will be more rewarding than 75% of the action films this summer.

I like GTA, it’s just that…the formula is the same. MGS brings innovation to each additional game.

I play N64/Wii with my girlfriend. In fact, we got together when she challenged me to a game of SSB. The only game(s) we play together is SSB/SSBB. She is far from a gamer, though.

On to GTAIV:
I was up past 4 last night playing GTAIV. It’s like Halo; I can’t really say there is anything revolutionary about it, save the fact it does everything just right.
The amount of detail in the game is almost disgusting. The comedy clubs feature real acts, there are TV stations with programs, radio programs, an in-game internet, and most of all the cell phone. The cell phone part of it really brings the whole thing together.
And really, the cutscenes are SO well-done. The characters aren’t just models like Master Chief, they are actual characters like from a movie or a good book. They are dynamic and interesting. I actually find myself totally immersed in the plot as I play, something I can’t honestly say I’ve felt about any other game before. Everything about the game has some sort of feeling attached to it that Liberty City seems to exist outside of the game.

Mgs4 Ftw!!!

I take it you haven’t played enough games and/or too many of the sports genre?

Halo 3 is a unique game. Seriously if you have ever gone through the Halo series, it’s like reading/watching a masterpiece - the story is so touching and philosophically, it’s one of the greatest pieces of modern literature in terms of science fiction, although obviously if you view it from a different light it might just be a shoot em up game.

Substitute Halo references with MGS and your post would still be correct.
