I hope you realize that I haven’t accomplished anything all day because I’ve been watching Astaire and Kelly clips on Youtube.

That number from Singing in the Rain is 4 minutes of perfection. Two Kelly clips I especially like from An American in Paris (though we might as well just link to the whole movie):

[url=<a href=“- YouTube Got Rhythm” Gene Kelly “An American In Paris” - YouTube/url

[url=<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube]An American in Paris - Tra La La - YouTube/url

When I first bought a video tape machine, I played Tra La La 10 times in a row.
Something about that number I liked. I used to play Tra La La multiple times a day. It was becoming a habit. I went on a trip to Europe and that changed my routine, and I needed to change my routine because watching Tra La La multiple times a day is not
productive. :)

Singin in the Rain is my favorite musical. I like American in Paris.

I also like On the Town. I like the energy of On The Town. Vera Ellen and Gene
Kelly look good together.

Ooops - sorry I missed that you had already posted the American in Paris clips. I’ve been having so much fun looking them up and watching them that I forgot to keep reading the thread. :D

On the Town is one of those movies that my family has to watch a couple of times a year.

Not necessarily the best, but memorable to me.

Shirley Temple and Bill Bojangles Robinson

Someone mentioned The Bandwagon. Saw it for the first time and liked Triplets–novelty number with fun lyrics–Astaire, Nanette Fabray (still alive!), and James Buchanan.

Al Pacino doing the tango in Scent of a Woman.

Opening of West Side Story segueing into When You’re a Jet (Jerome Robbins da Bomb).

with Sinatra in Take Me out to the Ballgame: <a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube;

Fred Astaire and Bing Crosby from Blue Skies. This number is more fun than any of their songs together in Holiday Inn: [Bing Sings “A Couple of Song and Dance Men” - YouTube](<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube)

It’s fun to see the dancers torture the non-dancers a little bit. Though Sinatra keeps up awesomely considering that Kelly cut him no slack whatsoever.

I don’t think any performance (on TV, anyway) ever affected me as much as watching Gordeeva and Grinkov skate. Here’s one (of many):
[Ekaterina Gordeeva and Sergei Grinkov - 1994 Olympic Gala - YouTube](<a href=“- YouTube”>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiUuTLHrGFg)

My favorite ballerina is Alina Cojocaru. This is just spectacular: [Alina Cojocaru at 25 - Sleeping Beauty, Rose adagio - YouTube](<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube) The piece is famous for the crazy demands it places on the ballerina. If you don’t have 6 minutes to invest, fast forward to 5:00 to see what this woman can do after dancing that long.

dstark, I know we weren’t separated at birth but the similarity of our taste in movies and music is uncanny! Ella Fitzgerald - a great, great artist. Her series of albums singing the Great American Songbook (Cole Porter, the Gershwins, Irving Berlin, Harold Arlen, etc.) is a must-have. She was an amazing talent!

This thread has gotten me to thinking about Bob Fosse and I came across this clip, which is narrated by the great Broadway star Gwen Verdon, to whom he was married for quite a while. [Various Clips of Bob Fosse Dancing - YouTube](Various Clips of Bob Fosse Dancing - YouTube) What an original genius he was!

Kurt Browning is my favorite skater. He was expected to win 2 Olympic golds (in 1992 and 1994) but flubbed the short program badly both times and couldn’t medal, despite his phenomenal long program both years. I remember that my daughters and I cried. He was very classy in defeat.

Frazzled1, I had no idea that Bob Fosse danced so well. That clip was great.
What a great career. I love his style. Caberet is a classic. I have watched All That Jazz so many times. The number Everything Old Is New Again always brings a smile to my face.

Kurt Browning did an amazing job, just fantastic. I don’t remember seeing that.
