This is a clearer version of that wonderful clip Mathmom posted of the Whitey’s Lindy Hoppers dance sequence from the movie Hellzapoppin’; it’s just the dance part, without the musical sequence that comes before it:

Amazing is right, Donna - how did they DO that? Fantastic.

I remember that number from “Will Rogers Follies” when it was performed on the Tony Awards years ago. What a showstopper.

Two more clips from Kurt Browing:
[Kurt Browning “Brickhouse” 1997 - YouTube](<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube) This is one of his signature numbers - “Brick House.” The clip is from his winning performance at the 97 World Professional Figure Skating Championships. He was somehow still doing the number in 2009!

He had a degree in economics from the University of Pittsburgh.

He had a complicated relationship with Stanley Donen, with whom he started out in the chorus on Broadway and eventually co-directed “Singing in the Rain” and “On the Town.” How complicated? Well, Donen’s first wife (he had five) became Kelly’s second - that’s complicated.

Kelly was said to be fiercely competitive in all things, including charades! We miss you, Gene.

I really like the clogging video. Everyone seems so happy. The girls are really adorable, and the older boys all look like Jerry Lee Lewis clones.

This is one of my favorite Olympic moments ever. Michelle Kwan had been favored to win gold in 1998, but was knocked down to silver, in what seemed like almost a fluke. Coming into 2002 as the 6-time American champ and 3-time world champ, she was heavily favored to finally win the elusive Olympic gold. But it wasn’t to be. This is her beautiful and heartbreaking exhibition skate, the next night.

It’s the best video quality I can find; there are several other videos with the American commentary. The crowd reaction speaks for itself in any language:

[Michelle Kwan - Fields of Gold (2002)](<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube)

Michelle did not win a gold, but she is golden. Beautiful skater. Ten years since Salt Lake…hmmmm

My uncle was a huge fan of Ann Miller. I did not understand this at the time.
Ann Miller is fantastic, but the way that dance was filmed was awful. Too many head shots. Let’s see more feet…and legs.

I can’t remeber if this was already posted, but I love this…so too bad. :)

Figure skating is too heartbreaking. My girls and I cried both times Michelle Kwan lost.

Best Ann Miller number ever (I think): [Prehistoric Man - YouTube](<a href=“Prehistoric Man - YouTube”>Prehistoric Man - YouTube) She is probably the only woman in history who could have made that dress work. Great dancing. And I love the look Gene Kelly gives Frank Sinatra when Ann says “I really love bear skin.”

She worked well past the time other actresses from her era had retired. Remember her in the soup commercial? And she was in “Mulholland Falls,” too!
