Thank you @AdmissionatVillanova for stopping by.
financial aid is out!
My D got a generous Villanova grant, covering 75% of the cost. I am so excited, now I just need to sell this to her, since this is much closer to home, than her favorite school. I am very greatful for this amazing opportunity.
@Freakedoutmama Was it the St. Martin de Porres grant? That’s the one I received, and I’m so excited!
Just looked at the Financial Aid letter. There is no mention of any grant on it. When entered data into net price calculator, it estimated that my D would be eligible for a grant. Does that come separately or does the letter I just looked at mean she did not get a grant?
On my financial aid letter, I got something called “Tuition Remission (not VU)”. Anyone know what that is? I read it has something to do with employees, but my parents never worked at or attended Villanova.
I’m an international and just got my need fully met (and I guarantee you, it is QUITE a big package). My biggest thanks to Villanova, not only for their admission offer but also their extremely generous aid package. It is super likely that I’m going here after seeing this warm welcome. Thank you again Villanova, and I will definitely respond by early April.
Did not get a very generous grant. Very upset because I worked so hard to get in. Don’t know how I can afford this.
D received her FA offer today as well. It is generous but may not be quite enough to pull this off. Still it is nice to see a good offer from a school. The rest of her offers have been nonexistent or very tiny. Time to have the chat. Good luck to everyone.
DD received a Villanova Grant equal to approx. 50% of total overall cost. Interesting that the net amount comes very close to the total overall cost of our in-state UC schools. Also, the private schools that she was acepted to all had pretty much the same overall net costs. It makes me think that colleges have a very good handle on all of this admission and cost stuff.
On Villanova website estimated cost for 2018-19 is 67,000, but our FA form states $70,000, anyone else notice this ??
We also did not get that much aid, so I think this one is out. So sad… was hoping to be part of the Wildcat family .
@Patsyclarkstown where did you see that $70k?
@pagirl08 , it just says Villanova grant
@AdmissionatVillanova thank you very much for clarifying. BTW, what is the estimated tuition cost for 2018-2019? TIA
Mine says it’s $66409 a year
@college dad 2B… maybe I am reading wrong !! I think I am, total after all loans stated $70,909. Believe me they only gave a small grant, but a lot of loans.
Am I reading this wrong??
Hope so !!!
@Patsyclarkstown does that state “total award” or “total loan”? I believe the $70,909 includes grants, loans, etc.
@nhsstudent123 $66,409 is that the total award or tuition that it states?
@college dad 2B Yes that’s what is says for me for total award
Read closely Total Award includes the portion YOU have to pay or at least it does on mine. The item that says Family Financing option is your out of pocket basically. You can pay it or finance it i.e. loan. It my case that is a decent size amount - more than we can handle but the other aid offered was generous including a grant almost 1/2 the total cost.
Right from Nova’s site What is the Financing Option on my award letter?
The Family Financing Option is not an offer of aid but rather a reflection of options available to finance your remaining cost of attendance. The amount of the Family Financing Option on your award letter is the estimated amount that students/families will be responsible for contributing to their education. The dollar amount is the difference between the cost of attendance and the financial assistance awarded to the student. This portion can be financed through the monthly payment plan (TMS), a Federal Direct PLUS loan (parent loan) and/or an alternative educational loan.
What I find odd is my expected total award (i.e. cost) is $70,909 for the year and some of you have a different amount than that.
