DS just got an email that he had a decision in his portal and found out he was accepted! We weren’t expecting decisions until mid-February. Anyone else get accepted to VT?
Yes! Same here! We were both totally shocked. I had thought given the November 15th deadline it would be one of the last ones he would hear from. Very exciting.
We got the email that only a few decisions were coming out but haven’t seen anything since.
What does an acceptance look like in the portal?? We don’t see anything
When you open the portal, screen goes red and it says “Congratulations”… After that you can view acceptance letter.
Well that makes it obvious!!! Wonder how many are in the small pool??
Pasting this in here from the Tech website:
- Who was included in the first round of offers?
Because we want to review each application with care and because of the increasing number of applications Virginia Tech receives each year, our application review process will take some time. However, as they are reviewed, we will have a pool of offers ready to release. Given that, we decided to inform those whose applications we have reviewed with offers as soon as we were able to do so. Please note that all Early Action applicants can expect to receive a decision by late-February and all Regular Decision applicants can expect to receive a decision by mid-March. Our team is working hard to notify you even sooner and we will send another email when we plan to release additional decisions to keep you and your family members informed of what to expect as we move forward. - How many offers were released?
About 25% of our first-year offers have been released with this round, leaving the majority of intended additional offers to be made in the spring. - How many rounds of decisions will be released and when will the next round be released?
We do not have a set number of rounds of decisions that we anticipate to release at this time. We will send another email when we plan to release additional decisions to keep you and your family members informed of what to expect as we move forward. - When will I receive an offer packet in the mail?
Offer packets to those admitted will not be sent by mail until late-February - When will I receive financial aid information?
Due to changes made to the FAFSA, financial aid packages will not be available until later in the spring as institutions will not have access to data from the FAFSA until late-January at the earliest. For any applicants who are admitted, we will send an email when your financial aid package is available in your Applicant Portal. - Why didn’t I receive a decision?
Given the attention we want to give your Ut Prosim Profile, it can take a great amount of time to review our volume of applications. We have not finalized all decisions at this time. We had a small pool of offers that were ready to be released so we decided to inform those applicants as soon as we were able to do so. Please note that all Early Action applicants can expect to receive a decision by late-February and all Regular Decision applicants can expect to receive a decision by mid-March. - If I didn’t receive a decision, does it mean I will not be offered admission?
If you do not receive an offer of admission, it is not a reflection of your status in the applicant pool. There will be many more offers extended to applicants after this week’s round of offers. - I was offered admission. What are my next steps?
You can find your next steps listed in your Applicant Portal.
According to the website, this is 25% of the total first year offers.
Is 25% of admissions a “small” pool?
No update for us. In state. 3.9 weighted gpa and test optional. Business.
Wow. Exhilarating to those that were accepted unexpectedly (timing wise) and demoralizing to those that were not.
ETA: For those that were not accepted, it actually seems like a deferral by another name. I could see students in that group being pretty disillusioned by that move.
Not sure how to interpret not being in the batch…
VT states “…we had a small pool of offers that were ready to be released so we decided to inform those applicants as soon as we were able to do so”. I think when they eliminated Early Decision they are concerned people will go elsewhere and enrollment will not be of the quality of past classes. I think they made a huge mistake but we will see. I think the offers went out to the group who were definite admits. We shall see. If you did not get an offer yet, try not to be discouraged by the admissions process. VT is a great school but they are not doing a great job with this process.
Are they all out? Right at 5pm?
Accepted! Just saw it in my email while at disneyland lol
I know it is frustrating. I think VT providing offers late February was a huge mistake. I think they panicked that people are accepting offers elsewhere and they really wanted to get offers out to definite admits now before they decided to go elsewhere. I could be completely wrong but other schools have provided offers and received acceptances. When a school offers you early, it makes you feel good and appreciated. I wish you only success in your admissions and decision!
Their email is very clear that this should not be interpreted as bad.
Nvm
No one got rejected in this round though, so they are admitting the top applicants right now.
