Virginia Tech Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

We didn’t see that, and couldn’t have filled it out anyway. I mean, we could have, but not knowing the schedule at the CC we would have just been guessing. And, like I said, several schools really emphasized that it needed to match the transcript exactly, so we did what was on the transcript. It’s not a crisis, since kid is equally happy with other options, but still frustrating since we had been notified that it was complete months ago. Kid already has acceptances at Clemson, UTK, Auburn, and several others and nowhere else has had a problem with the SRAR. We are fine with updating, but the timing - getting the notification after the due date - was strange.

I suggest you call admissions and email your counselor. Your situation needs some direct eyes on it, and even though you have other great options, you might want to know you did all you could. HTHs.

DD got accepted December 22nd.

Does anyone follow the Director of Admissions on Twitter? Someone on the FB college admissions site said that he will post on Twitter if they are going to release more acceptances before end of February.

Did anyone that applied to Honors hear back on the initial 12/21 set of offers? I’m not asking if you heard about Honors, but rather, if you heard about VT acceptance in general?

S24 applied EA and Honors and was not part of the 12/21 set of offers. Anxiously waiting for the next drop.

Yes, my ‘24 applied for honors and was accepted in the mid-December batch.

Yes, applied to honors and accepted in December.

It’s really a long wait for EA to be released end of Feb. RD is released mid-March, so there is actually no difference whether you apply EA or RD, at this point. Most colleges EA are announced by end of Jan.

I distinctly remember attending an Admissions Info Session at VT back in the fall of 2019 and they flat-out told attendees that if they wanted to attend VT, they should apply EA, and that RD applicants were considered only on a “space available” basis, factoring in the number of EA offers that had already been made. I wonder if they still approach it the same way. It would seem hard to align the number of offers with such close notification dates in EA and RD.

Exactly. They are losing quality candidates after being turned off from the admissions process. Girls in the top 3% of their class still waiting while others with lower credentials were accepted. None of it makes sense.

I hope Tech’s admissions office and powers that be are reading this feedback.

My DS was fortunate enough to be accepted in Dec, but I’m getting extremely frustrated and annoyed for the rest of ya’ll about the EA process. They should at least release another 25-50%, if not all the remaining EA’s by the end of Jan.

However, this is our first time going through this process, and it just doesn’t seem to be going smoothly…

Good luck!!

I think they know what they are doing. Maybe yield protection, maybe just a new test. Anyway, very special

Too bad we won’t get an official yield for those accepted in December.

Your comment is interesting, and I want to understand it better. That was when they had ED, so were they saying that if you aren’t going to apply ED you should do EA because there may not be many spots left when they get to the RD round? Thanks.

Yes, this is exactly what they were saying. RD was “space available” and admissions offers would only be made if particular majors had room left after the early admissions rounds. So if their admission plan was to make admissions offers to 100 Architecture majors, and they reached that number through ED and EA, no offers would be made in RD. As I understood it, they were saying they weren’t holding back a certain number of spots for RD. Again, I have no idea if this is what they do now.

At this year’s Open House, campus tours etc, they said the same. If you want to come here, apply EA. RD is much more challenging to get in. They also shared the most challenging major to get in is University Studies (undecided) because so many select it thinking its easier, then they have to evaluate you as part of a huge pool of candidates.

I hope we hear sooner than later, its my sons #1 choice. I’m a Hokie and we come from a family of Hokies!
