<y S25 got another email reminder today about this.
This is also probably the reason we are getting these emails (info sessions, warnings, etc.), so check your financial aid portal to see if FAFSA form is listed!!
Got an email today referencing FAFSA only. My son didnât apply for FAFSA.
A lot of schools tie merit scholarships to submitting FAFSA, as they take a holistic approach to aid and scholarships. This may be the case with VT.
I would bet that they have made the decisions by now and are doing whatever work is necessary to send out decisions. Itâs a fun (or frustrating) game to play to try to figure speculate any additional meaning behind the communications send over the past week.
Possibly, though many schools still havenât decided on aid and all scholarships yet. They still have RD for aid and are probably trying to get through EA decisions before anticipating the extent of aid for RD.
Can confirm VT needs FASFA for merit aid, itâs one of the few that do. For my older one we did not submit FASFA and were told that we wouldnât get aid as a result. My son withdrew though from VT as he was accepted to his in-state flagship and will attend there.
Good luck . Wish VT decisions came out sooner.
Weâre waiting because we were incredibly impressed with Virginia Tech during our visit.
That said, and I donât mean this to sound haughty⊠but VT does have to play catchup as our S25 has had time to visit, get accepted to, and start to get excited about his other top choices. Iâm sure weâre not alone in this position.
This is absolutely the truth for my son as well! Heâs been accepted to some great choices, and they are pulling ahead by the day. Swag packages alone are feeding that excitement. If VT doesnât hurry up, Iâm going to have a NE Husky or a Boilermaker! Itâs a shame, because VT is a perfect fit for him, everything heâs looking for.
And VT doesnât even send out swag!
Same here daughter accepted to Purdue Engineering and we are in state for VTech.
Ugggg. My S25 is so jealous of all the pics of the civilians vs the cadets snowball fight today on the drill field. She so badly wants to be a Hokie. This wait is taking a toll on her.
Such a fun tradition - even The Weather Channel covered it!
VT doesnât need swag to win over accepted students. I will say that my daughter received a welcome letter from the dean of her major after she was accepted, which I thought was a nice touch (and I think at some point she received a VT pennant flag). My older D didnât get any swag from UNC either and it didnât affect her decision to go there.
For those whose students are starting to lean toward other colleges where theyâve already received acceptances - that could be the sign that says thatâs where your students are supposed to be. Nothing wrong with that. Maybe their heart will get pulled back to VT when they get an acceptance, maybe it wonât. They have until May 1st to make the decision, and thatâs still pretty far away.
Fingers crossed that Friday is the day!
Yeah, my son is also almost about to hit the accept button of one of his other offers before receiving the VT decision
They just want to remove the uncertainty I think
thecollegenavigator on insta posted unofficially VT will be released by Feb 14
What is the instagram handle? When I put in @thecollegenavigator I come up with a private account.
he is lying it never came out
send a picture if it is really true
I wouldnât say that is true for majority of applicants. VT is not putting themselves behind. There are tons of schools that only have ED, no EA, and so kids had to apply regular decision. In those cases kids do not here back until mid March to April 1st. Yes, my daughter has heard back from all of her EAs except for VT, but she will still be waiting on 5 RD and 1 deferral once VT comes out. NO amount of swag received has swayed her from what she feels are her top choices. I do get that it is hard to wait now that EA is such a popular option.
My DD got 4 emails from GMU yesterday reminding her to accept the offer
