Considering a couple of weeks ago they told us mid-February when we called, it sounds like it is fluid.
They likely have decisions to make, perhaps waiting on scholarships.
As for it being a “surprise” for today, there are some things that aren’t fun as surprises!
Honestly, what is the benefit to VT of keeping the day/time a surprise? Everyone is waiting, waiting, waiting, why not just say a date? Especially now that it’s close. They must know the date.
In case something happens and they can’t get decisions out when they plan to. Very well could be what’s going on today since the offices were closed earlier in the week.
My guess is that although the physical buildings were closed, they were still collaborating on Monday for any decisions.
Do all applicants get these in their updates section of the portal? Just wondering if the recent messages about FAFSA mean anything

My DD portal has been updated. I can no longer see the information that could be closed out about the specific major she applied to.
I also have a possible Boilermaker woman engineer in my house! VT is falling behind the more excited we get about Purdue. We shall see!
Same. Which explains why I got an error message a little bit ago. I think it’s time for me to stop going into the portal. It is what it is at this point!
I called admissions this morning and they said next week and an email would come out shortly before the release to tell you to check the portal.
We can’t see the major that you could “x” out either!
Yes, that’s gone for my DS as well. But it seems Admissions saying not today from ppl reporting here, so who knows.
My DS is a Sophomore at Purdue majoring in MechE and he LOVES it.

It’s on the home page of your portal about 1/2 way down. Used to be some kind of banner there…I honestly can’t recall what it said but it’s not there anymore. Was below the photo and above the “Questions? Contact our office.”
Did you complete the FAFSA?
It listed which major you applied to and now it is gone.
Strange that we’re seeing changes in the portal, and VT saying it isn’t today.
Most of the other schools, you’d see changes just before the announcement.
IIRC some schools do change the portal in the week prior to release. I think UMich did it the Monday before

Awesome, MechE is what my DD applied to and got in FYE. I have heard nothing but great things about the program.
