Virginia Tech Early Action for Fall 2025 Admission

Congrats to your DD! My DS loves it (but if you asked him today…he may slightly disagree; it’s been a LOOONG week of exams haha). Engineering isn’t easy anywhere!

I get the process. But other major universities are releasing RD acceptances already. And here we are still waiting for EA.

Not disagreeing with you but they did say “late Feb” when we applied.

It will come today for sure :+1:

Why would you continue to do this if you’re not releasing decisions today?

Hahah no … I got to a page that reminded me the honor code (not for any reason other than poking around to see all the things I could see in some portal I found my way into… made me feel I was doing something “wrong”

My daughter had the same decision and is a proud Hokie.

This does sort of make it look like they’d be releasing today… I would imagine if not, someone would have suggested this could be misleading to post… Maybe it’s just hopeful eyes I am looking through… but it does really seem like this to me at least

Those are great schools. A couple of reasons to pick VT over those is the vibe of the school (VT is very different from those) and the cost. If those two things aren’t important to you, I would pick one of those. My D25 got into UVA, but she loves Virginia Tech, so it’ll be a very hard decision for her if she gets into VT.

But a good decision to have! Congrats to her on the UVA admission!

What kind of “vibe” are you referring to?

I don’t know if I can pinpoint the differences of the vibe, but I’ve researched and visited those schools, except for UF, and they all have a unique culture. Something very tangible that’s different between UVA and VT is how the students dress. A friend’s daughter transferred from VT to UVA this year and she said the hardest part of the transition so far was getting ready for classes…putting on make-up, doing her hair, wearing something besides sweats. When we visited UVA we saw more kids in suits and dresses than leggings, which is basically the only thing my daughter wears. Having said that, I don’t think she should base her decision on that. She will have a great experience whichever school she picks.

People are expressing their feelings on the post, I would think they would at least push a message out that it is not coming to lets these kids focus

cryptic posts are ridiculous - either announce a date or don’t. It’s a binary event and won’t be exciting for every kid, so why are they teasing it?

Yes, agreed. I would certainly think decisions are being released today, except for several reported phone conversations saying no. I love the social media posts and think they are great…just put a message in the caption to say hope everyone has a great Valentine’s Day…expect decisions next week! Or something like that. This isn’t a game of clue. Transparency would be so appreciated! My DS sent me the roses one and said what do you think this means? I said…probably just a Valentine’s post?? Who knows!

Feb2-2024 - EA notification from VT
Feb23-2024 - RD notification from VT

Understand sometimes the calendar “rolls back” or shifts-back one week owing to leap years accumulating… e.g. PSU Schreyer Honors is now one-week later than prior year … but it seems according to this information VT is at-least one-week late … possibly two if being a real stickler.

Agree with schools delaying it certainly hurts yield.
