Virginia Tech Early Action for Fall 2025 Admission

Accepted! In State. Philosophy major. 3.7 GPA. 11 honors, 8 APs. 3 DE.

I don’t know why I was kept waiting almost 3 hours but those confetti feet were adorable!

that’s hard to believe - there’s no way this round was anywhere close to 57 percent admits. Does that mean the regular decision round accepts a far higher percentage of applicants? Maybe I’m confused.

Thank you! On the VT common app, do they ask for a secondary major if not admitted or there’s no space in their primary major?

Considering the yield, I think they’d admit a lot more than 7K spots they have. I saw the statement in the acceptance letter too but think it is miss leading.

Daughter admitted.
OOS (Oregon).
32 ACT, submitted.
4.0 UW GPA.
Major: International relations/National security.
11 IBs, 2 APs, 4 Honors, 4 DE.
Leadership roles.
Unusual extracurriculars and national level awards.

Was NOT accepted to Honors College.
Offered $3,000 per year merit
Will not be attending VT (it was 2nd choice and got nice offer from 1st choice.)
Best wishes to all of you!! I really loved VT when we visited!

Curious - for out of state engineering high stats waitlist, where are you geographically? Wondering if they did some waitlisting for those of us who are farther away as they consider us less likely to attend than folks from Ohio, New Jersey, etc? We are in California and surprised by the waitlist placement!

We got in and invited to Honors college!!! My S25 is so excited! She will be studying Neuroscience. Small scholarship but more than JMU gave us which was $0. Does anyone know are we supposed to apply for housing now for honors college. It says it is a Living Learning community. It seems that it opened in January for honors college but we didn’t have single sign on setup since we were not a student yet.

accepted OOS, very small merit and no financial aid (which we need). I guess VT is off the list :frowning: Upsetting
ps
SAT 1440

Did anyone receive merit and not submit the FASFA?

Congrats! Is the merit information listed in the decision letter?

we are in CA also. S25 applied biomed engineering although he actually wants to do business now (and applied business to several other schools). Waitlisted to engineering with 4.5W / 3.85W / 1440 SAT / decent ECs. Older brother did go east to an ACC school (but not to VT)

really liked Delaware and Newark when we visited there a couple years back. congrats!

Son is waitlisted for engineering too.

He got accepted early for GT, Purdue, WPI, Penn State. We’re thinking maybe his college short answers were not on point for VT.

He will move on.

very good options! My son wants to like VT because of its reputation and campus appearance, but on the other hand it didn’t grab him and he has some other good options too that seem to appeal to him more (plus has to wait for unpredictable CA schools), so he’ll likely bow out also after a weekend to sleep on it.

DD was accepted. This message was in her portal. Is this an invitation to apply to the HC or and acceptance?

Very targeted ECs in service to others; very aligned with VTs mission Ut Prosim
Four years varsity athlete; junior and senior captain

VT was my #1 school forever, but I also got into another school that I am now super excited about. That’s honestly the downside with their late decision process; so many have now had months to picture themselves at other schools, visiting, even building a community of friends. VT is no longer a sure thing for me :((
