Visa Application

you do need No Objection letter, to exchange dollars. And you might need it in the airport and stuff.

Yup. And you also need to have a copy of it in Nepal even when you are in the US so you can have money sent to you later. It’s just that you don’t need it for the visa interview.

^ guys, u said we need to keep two copies of it. Do we make two original copies or make just one and leave a xerox copy in Nepal?

PS ur posts were greatly helpful, thanx! :)

As far as I can remember, they give you two letters. And I think you have to give the bank the first letter when you first exchange dollars. You have one remaining copy, and then you xerox that. Bring a copy with you to the US, and let your family have a copy too. :)

In May 5, USEF has a VISA session! Why not come there?

ok, 1 last question guys, do we need an I20 or VISA to make the No Objection letter? or can we prepare it before applying for VISA with an Acceptance letter from the college I shall be attending?

Furthermore, I’ve already once transferred $500 of enrollment deposit to my college via credit card through Kumari Bank. So which transfer are u guys talking about?

I’m a bit confused so could enlighten me? :)

@fznfire: thanx dude, i shall be attending , i guess!

I did this a year back so i might not be remembering this right, but I’m pretty sure we need the i20 for the no-objection letter…and i think i got the NO letter made before i got my visa…
when you come to the US you would bring some money with you so that’s why you need the NO…if that’s what you were asking.
also, i never went to the USEF visa session but I’m sure it would help a lot.

@all How important is the relationship verification?

^ relationship verification isnt required for the VISA interview.
But i heard its used to show ur family ties and family members(ofcourse) here in Nepal, so it might be useful.
not sure of its importance though!

hey guys…i heard that my sponsor(father) should show his bank transaction of 6 months…but his personal account doesnt have any transactions at all. intead his business’s current account has required transactions…so can the business’s current account transaction be used and can the business’s bank balance statement be used?

similarly what should be the minimum bank balance required for visa interview? and income?

@metallica999: is your business run on your father or mother’s name?? I mean, is the business that you’re talking about personally owned by your father, mother or your sponsor?? If the answer is yes, then I think you can show that same transaction. However, you cannot use the business bank balance coz that is the business’s capital not your parent’s savings for your studies.
There’s nothing such as a minimum bank balance. You must demonstrate that you are financially capable of covering all expenses incurred during your stay in the US.

Correct me guys if I’m wrong about those business transaction stuff!!

im in the same situation as metallica999 :|

how do you guys show your SAT scores? since the SAT scores weren’t mailed and only showed online, can a print out of the score report be ok for the interview?

You can print out the report and ask your school official to attest it. That will work. :)

@trinitian
Ya that business is on my dad’s name. So are you sure that the bank balance of business cannot be used? So in that case what can be the alternative? Loan or sth else???

@metallica999: I’m a student as you and not a US-VISA-expert. Everything I’m saying are right to the best of my knowledge. However I may be wrong. IN such case, you or any other guy reading this post can correct me. I’m just giving you ideas of what I feel and know.

Since the US embassy needs your sponsor to have clear income source/funds for your education(as stated in their websites), i’m pretty sure you cant utilize your business capital…and even if you tell them that your father is going to use that business capital for your education they will surely ask you other questions related to other sources of income such as “If your father is going to use this business capital for your education, how is he going to run the business and earn living for your family? What will be the then source of income for your family?” They dont just always ask you, “Why USA? Why this college? What are your future plans?” types of questions. The interviewers are VERY expert in their job and during the interview you may run short of answers in cases they twist the questions.

I dont think loans can be a good alternative. Thats becasue, even if you take loans, you will have to show them sources of income/funds that can repay them.

Ok, enough said, the above mentioned things are just my hunches, which i think are true to some extent coz I’ve been doing some research on US Visa interviews on internet and at other places.

I’ll be attending the 5th May US Visa info session at USEF. If possible, I’ll ask the US Embassy interviewer, who’ll be coming there, about your situation. And PM you what he says. Or it will be better if you yourself attend the VISA info session available at USEF at different dates. That way you can better talk about your family situation. Call USEF and ask about the session, you can register if you produce an I-20.

thanks buddy…and ya ill be also be attending the may 5 visa info session…

@ all guys, have any of you got ur I20 and scheduled an appointment for VISA interview?

yeah I got my I20. i will schedule an appointment in a week or two !

@iwojima
