Volunteering: Museum vs Zoo, which is better?

Hello all!

I am a current 8th grader in the Philadelphia area, and I am debating on whether to volunteer at a local natural history museum (Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel Uni), or the local zoo (Philly zoo).

I have done extensive research and narrowed my options down to those two.

Background Info about myself: I love animals, plants, and natural history. Both the Zoo and the museum fit my interests and I will be happy volunteering at either. I have a relatively extensive knowledge of animal care and natural history, so I won’t be completely lost at either.

Museum: chance to participate (maybe) in research, interact with museum visitors, interact with kids at summer camp

Zoo: caring for live animals, has extremely good school-year volunteer program with the summer program as a prerequisite, interact with zoo visitors

Point I’m trying to make is, which is better?

Thank you for reading this, and have a great day!

Apply to both and see if you get accepted to both.

Apply to both.
If admitted to both : Both would be good so pick the one you like best.
Other considerations : you’d work over the summer… Do you prefer being outside or inside? (is air conditioning a consideration?)
Since the summer internship is a pre-req for next level internships would you give up on zoo volunteering?
Could you do both?
