volunteering

Since I moved after college I’ve been looking for ways to get involved and make new friends (it’s hard!). I’m not an athlete, so playing sports are off the table for me, but I do like working on a team.

Not so long ago one of my co-workers introduced me to Special Olympics, which gives individuals with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to show they can and will succeed given the chance to do so. The volunteer work feels completely rewarding, in part because it’s grassroots volunteers and organizers working together to change the way we view people with intellectual disabilities.

So I wanted to invite anyone else who is looking to get involved somehow to check out all the opportunities Special Olympics provides. Getting involved is really easy, just check out their website to find out how – [Special Olympics | Facebook](Redirecting...)

Good for you! Giving of yourself to help others is more rewarding than any paycheck you will ever get. I wish you much luck in your future endeavors, and thank you so much for sharing your experience with us!
