Congratulations to everyone!!!
Has anyone in-state gotten off the waitlist for the College of Science?
For those in-state students who just got off the waitlist (Engineering or Business), could you please share your stat? Congratulations to all of you!
Congrats to those who got off the waitlist!! By what date do u have to accept/decline your offer?
My daughter says they gave her until May 15. Her financial package is supposed to be viewable late today.
I got into tech today! So happy
Thanks @doodlewrangler
I got off the waitlist in-state!
Major: Public Relations
Stats
W GPA: 3.9
UW GPA: 3.54
SAT: 1120
“Alright” ECs
That’s actually a longer amount of time than I expected. Those that have gotten off of the waitlist in the past couple weeks only had until May 1st.
My son is going to be a Hokie! He got off in state for University Studies. Woot!
I was accepted today.
Applied for finance. In state.
SAT 1230
GPA 3.8
5 AP classes
1 dual
My sister went to tech
I moved to the US my junior year. I lived in Russia my whole life, but I am a naturalized citizen. Learned English in school.
In the application there was a place where I could write something the admissions should need to know about me. So I explained that my Reading and Writing sections of the SAT were not very high because English is not my first language.
I did lots of volunteering in Russia. In US did not do a lot, mainly because I was adjusting to my new life. I also included in my application that I work as a Russian language tutor for The Slavic department of UVA.
Daughter got into Va Tech today off the wait list!!! Her dream came true! She is in-state and applied to the college of Biological Sciences. Her SAT was 1220 with a GPA of 3.9 and loads of extra-curricular activities in all areas!
Congrats to the future VA Tech Class of 2024!! Go Hokies!
@JAT24210 - Congratulations! Is your daughter’s GPA weighted or un-weighted? How many AP and Honors classes does she have?
@PLO2020 Her GPA is unweighted. She has taken 15-20 dual enrollment credit hours and two AP classes.
Congratulations to everyone! Does anyone think this is the last of the waitlist pull or are they going to pull again?
@JAT24210 - Thanks for your information. Your daughter is definitely a very good student in HS. You should be very proud of her!
@positive patracia - I hope VT will have 2nd (or maybe the last) waitlist pull around mid May.
Congratulations to everyone! Does anyone think this is the last of the waitlist pull or are they going to pull again?
They will pull until they are full. No way to know for sure. It’ll depend on how many people accept the offer and how many they need to fill still.
Congratulations to all! In state here— praying I get in as VT is my top choice. Applied to Pamplin school of business. Really hoping we see another wave!
OOS URM son was accepted off the waitlist this afternoon to the COE - CS. I was very surprised as he did not expect to hear anything until this weekend. A school friend of his was accepted off the waitlist to COE two weeks ago. He is very happy. He loved the school when our family visited last spring and it seemed like a good fit for him.
His financial package will come tomorrow. His decision (he is going) has to be in by 5/15. He received nice merit/financial aid packages from GMU and UMBC. He expects little to no merit aid from VT.
My gut feeling was there would be a big draw off the waitlist. It was clear VT was very conservative with its initial admissions decisions after last year’s over acceptance. Then the pandemic hit which has to hurt VT’s yield rate especially among foreign and OOS students.
Good luck to everyone.
I got off the waitlist earlier today, instate, for engineering. My stats are:
GPA: 4.2
SAT: 1450
All IB classes since Junior year
Pretty decent ECs, most STEM-related.
