Waitlist success stories

peachjelly, so your friend was called? cause i’ve been checking my mailbox and email and im trying to figure out how i will be notified of my decision. also, are you international? because i have heard a lot of students getting off the waitlist that are and am hoping maybe my location is just not finding out yet.

My friend just got into Washington and Lee. Got a fed ex package an hour ago.

subscribing, son’s hoping to hear from Harvard.

any news from Dartmouth or Williams?

I heard that CMU is not taking anyone from the priority waitlist.

has anyone had a voicemail left for them re: teh waitlist? We got one today that said they wanted to update us on their waitlist - any ideas what the call could mean? Like they have an opening?!?!

Just curious - who was the voicemail from?

My daughter got an email from her school where she is waitlisted.
They wanted to update their waitlist now that May 1 has come and gone.

Basically - they are going to begin accepting from the waitlist and they want to know if you are still interested in being on the waitlist so they can pare it down. No sense in making offers to kids who no longer have interest.

So - they probably just want you to confirm that you still want to be on the waitlist.

If u don’t mind, if u name the school, it might help others. Thanks.

any more from washu?

By any chance did someone mention Whitman yesterday?

I wish I knew what’s really up with Swarthmore.
I wrote e-mail asking if they’d be taking people off waitlist, and I still haven’t heard from them. Gaaah, I just want to know if I can completely move on with my life or should I still keep that tiny glimpse of hope that I’ll get in…

In the meanwhile, I need an opinion:

College counselor from my former school told me to be aggressive in the waitlist game, and to engage my former teachers to lobby for me.
I never understood what exactly the lobbying people do when they call the school to lobby for a student. Anyone knows this?
Also, I haven’t been in touch with my former teachers for like 5-11 months. I feel really awkward suddenly sending an e-mail: “Hey, long time no see! Could ya lobby for me?” :frowning: I mean, I sent them new year’s greetings, but since then, nothing. What would you do?

Friend of mine got called last week.

can anyone confirm yale? we’ve only had one claim so far

^And stanford

About Yale, aside from knowing someone specific who got in from the waitlist, I also heard directly from my college counselor that Yale is definitely going to the waitlist - my counselor had lunch or dinner with Brown and Yale reps. Brown “wasn’t sure.”

“Yale is definitely going to the waitlist”
everybody expected this. the question is, have they already begun?

manders, what kind of school do you go to if your counselor has dinner with college reps?
