thank you all for your help! i will be going to georgetown so if anyone is waiting for a spot at villanova, i just freed one up

Goldberg2

I feel for you. I’ve been waiting on Georgetown since October … and found out yesterday that “attrition will not be sufficient to allow consideration of additional candidates”. It sucks…

Georgetown was my top too, i did get into vassar choice #8, off of the waiting list and will try to transfer into georgetown. Got the official leave us alone letter from tufts. I waited for gtown from october to may, and got recruited which didnt do anything

Were you notified by a letter?

I know someone who hasn’t heard anything from Georgetown since mid-May when he was offered a spot on the extended waitlist. It was his understanding that he would definitely know one way or the other by today, June 30th, and that didn’t happen.

Northwestern promised final notices to all waitlisted apps by June 25th as well, but as of today, no notice. Are other schools late in notifications also?

barnard hasn’t told anyone yet :(

I got of the Wisconsin waitlist about two weeks ago. It was my top choice, but I already sent in my housing info, LOI, etc. to UCI (probly my 3rd choice). I’m now leaning to UCI cause I haven’t even visited the Wisconsin campus, but I got a letter saying they still have housing available so now I’m not sure. Anybody else stuck with a similarly difficult decision?

There’s still no word from Michigan…

No word from George Washington for the MS program. I called them yesterday and some one out there said they will let me know by this week.
Can anyone tell me why this year its taken such a long time to take decisions on the wait list candidates.

My “View Decision” option is now GONE from the “Application Status” on my Wolverine Access for UM – guess they are done with me. It was there on 6/30 but not today… adios Michigan, no emails from them either, so I guess I’ll get dumped via snail mail.

I believe anyone (still) on this thread would love to have your sweet misery, but only few lucky ones, such as you, get to experience it… ;)

I believe that is because of the unusually big outreach to waitlists by top schools like Harvard (200 off?!). So that causes the ripple effect and affects the other waitlists (you know, for ex. UMich kid gets off Harvard’s waitlist, now UMich has a spot to fill up so they take Vanderbilt kid, Vandy reaches to Reed kid etc. etc.) On top of that, there is that regular “summer melt” which is the usual thing happening every summer - kids get off waitlists during summer so the schools’ targeted class size decreases.
So now basically no school is absolutely sure if they will have the targeted yield in the fall, so they’re quite reluctant to let go of the waitlist yet.
Yep, colleges grill us looooong :D

Today Johns Hopkins University created a small, extended “summer” waitlist indicating that any offers of admission would be made no later than July 31st.

Being an international applicant this makes it even worse for me cause once i get done with this process and get through it (though the longer it takes things seem more unlikely to work according to what i want) i have to start my Visa process which should take about a month i hope. But if it happens like what happened to me last time (it took me two months to get a student visa this was like right after 9/11) then i am screwed.

What happened, this thread just went dead???

got final “kiss off” from mich on july 1 by email- 8 months after i sent my app in

My daughter’s school informed her in an email on June 30 that they remain overenrolled and not taking anyone from the waitlist.
So much for dipping into the waitlist.

What school did your daughter want to go to

Have been calling guys at GWU. But no one picks up the phone…shoul i keep trying or just leave it up to them. How aggressive should i be in this case…

Swarthmore sent second-to-last e-mail saying that they’ll keep an extended summer waitlist of ~30. They’ll give us the good-bye mail on or before August 1.

I mean, I still want to get off waitlist, but what could be done at this point anyways?!

Anybody on wait list at Trinity or Connecticuit College or Colby and anyone know how they notify you
