Waitlist success stories

Waitlisted at Princeton! i would die to get in…

when you guys say supplemental recs, do you mean teacher recs or counselor recs?

Waitlisted at Columbia, would love to get in.

My heart goes out to all of the waitlisted students. My twin D’s were both waitlisted last year at Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, WashU , Boston College, and Northwestern… It was a frustrating and confusing spring for our family. I am here to tell you that only one of my daughters were ever chosen to be taken off the waitlist and that was at Vanderbilt. Their scores and statistics were very twin like. The only difference was their declared areas of intended study. The D that got off the waitlist was interested in engineering.
She chose not to go to Vanderbilt and both of them have moved on and had happy successful first years elsewhere. I know it is hard to believe now but you will all be okay. Keep an open mind and don’t let these waitlists ruin your last weeks of high school.

Ive been waitlisted at five schools:
Wash U
Bucknell
Colgate (top choice)
William and Mary (top choice)
Whitman (top choice)

I really hope i dont have to resort to my safeties…does anyone know how to let the college know that you dont need financial aid? Pretty sure i said that i did want it in my apps but that was just to see what they were willing to give me. Now ill do anything to get off these lists and i think that declaring that i dont need FA will help

^ declararing that you don’t need help and majoring in engineering… that’s the 2 keys! in my D’s hs all the kids interested in engineering got into good schools even if they were at the bottom of the rank… at the opposite the kids even in the top 5% but not majoring in Engineering ended-up at their safeties… !!

^not true in my case. I declared engineering and took all the math/sci courses, but got waitlisted/rejected at ivies while a peer who didn’t take a single math/sci ap (and not that hard a courseload) got in. She declared engineering too though. Do you think it’s just the top students who got shorted everywhere/most places while more mediocre students get accepted?! that’s so unfair! Lol.

but how do i change my FA status! haha

im not gonna lie about my major, even if i do end up in environmental engineering eventually

EVirginiaA what about an admission rep that is assigned to your area as a contact person, just send an email with your FA question or call.
as others have posted here visits and continued interest has worked well. Best of luck to you

i got waitlisted at johns hopkins, duke, harvard.
but i got in northwestern :]
im really hopking either duke or harvard takes me

Waitlisted at Stanford… sighs…

my friend got off the waitlist for harvard last year, and wasn’t that qualified compared to other waitlisted students at my school, but then again the head master thought she was fit and made a little call to harvard

It’s really cruel to keep all these students waiting…of course me included…
ard you guys doing anything to help you get off the waitlist right now?

I’m writing my letter to Brown right now, struggling to make it not sound generic…

I’ll be giving up my waitlist spots for Swarthmore and Bowdoin, maybe that will help some fellow agonizing waitlistees. hopefully the karma will come back to me…

wow…brown…impressive…
sure it will help students who get waitlisted by both schools…
i just can’t wait any more!! just tell me deal or no deal!!!
sigh…

waitlisted at JHU and Columbia. I liked JHU, but not enough to go through agony again. You guys can have 'em.

i’ve got waitlisted after being deferred ED from my top choice school. i’ve sent a letter of interest saying the school is my top choice so 100% attend if enrolled with a major award winning news, an additional material, and e-mailed my admissions officer and the regional director… even if there is only 0.1% of hope left i dont want to and am not going to give up… however do you really think ED defer -> RD waitlist is actually a false hope? :frowning: please show me the reality … and what more can i do now?

yunacamel–> me too! (WL after deffered ED) it’s like getting deferred all over again, but this time it’s indefinite! i did the same thing though (sent a letter, additional materials) and i’m just hoping…

hey i got waitlisted by umich and NYU (stern). I’m appealing to Berkeley as well. Any news about the waitlist for NYU or umich? Btw should I send anything to umich showing my interest in their uni? NYU told me to but in their website, Michigan told the waitlist applicants not to anything. What you guys think? send anyway?

got off the waitlist at Miami University.
