Starting a thread for those who may have accepted a waitlist spot for the Univ of SC. List your stats and intended major. Supposedly notifications will be well after the May 1st commitment date with portal update around May 15th. Would love to hear if/when people get alerted to come off, when, what is offered as an entry point and ? major.
4.2 WGPA, TO, Top 30% of class, no class rank, Psychology Major, OOS, 3 sport athlete, numerous comm service, part time job.
Son (class of 2028) waitlisted at south Carolina (out of state). Admitted Penn State, VA Tech. 4.4 GPA, lots of extra curricular, didn’t submit SAT. South Carolina is his top choice so we are in waiting mode!

College of Business.
Son OOS applied EA, deferred, then waitlisted - Sports Management major. No GPA, No class rank, attends an independent prep school in NC, 27 ACT, lots of EC including internships aligned with sports major. Admitted at Auburn, University of Colorado - Boulder, Indiana - Bloomington, NC State, Ohio State, and Bama. OSU and NC State have great programs and are ranked so much higher academically but USC is his top choice - so we also wait.

we were deferred and changed major from business and accepted during RD with the intent to apply to Business major in the first year. She was accepted during RD
just got off the waitlist at South Carolina–anyone else? got an email that says i need to let them know by 4/15 of whether i want to accept a spot.

yes we just got an email also! Have to accept by April 15th. Also will not know until after accept if she got into her major. Is yours the same? Also was wondering if there is any opportunity for merit. Probably not.

If you accept a spot is it binding?
It says you need to submit enrollment deposit of 200 by May 1. I don’t think it’s binding as nothing stops you from paying enrollment deposit at two schools while you make a final decision
We already have a deposit down at one school. This was a total surprise. We were not expecting this, this early. Crunch time to reconsider as we really did not think this was likely. Lots to consider. Where are you located? We are OOS in MA, hoping for admit to Psychology, second option was undeclared.
we are in Virginia. Where did you put your deposit down. We also put a deposit down on another school which is still likely in the lead.

gr8 school and beautiful campus. Also psych dept is very good there…

Same here, I have so many questions! This offer only makes sense for us if there will be merit offered. It’s our most expensive option right now. Daughter had moved on mentally so this is a big surprise.

Same for my son! We just put deposit down on nc state but will be doing USC as well, it’s his top choice but we’re in state for NC State so need to weigh everything! Congrats to all!
