Waitlisted at University of South Carolina

So just read that you can click the Yes button without submitting. Then additional drop downs populate where our major psychology was listed and greyed out. It then gives you the option to change majors. Also declares though that Nursing and Business are full.

Does greyed out mean they can’t use that major or that it is the major they would be accepted into? I am also assuming that the merit they offered to kids that are not choosing U of SC will go back to the pool and possibly be offered to this early round of waitlisted kids? My husband plans to call today to get some clarity on that, I will post when I know a bit more

Are you sure, I thought you could select a new major if you wanted to change it. But I would probably assume you were in at Darla??? My daughter applied undecided and was able to select a new major or stay undecided.

yup, same boat.

im reading all of this to mean–hitting yes, and submit, just means they offer you admission, just like anyone else…and you still have until May 1 to decide and pay enrollment fee. All of this is non-binding. Hitting yes, just means that you want to get an acceptance letter and ball is in student’s court to decide.

It states that Darla and Nursing have reached capacity

I think so too…

I think it means she is accepted into that major which was her primary selection. I think we can still elect to change it if we want, just not business or nursing as they are full.

Correct. See disclaimer which seems to have just been added. Was not there yesterday.

Son got in off waitlist yesterday. Sports Management major. Same email as the others—notify them, non binding, by April 15. This was originally his top choice, but had kind of given up hope. So now he is weighing his options.

For others—son wrote loci stating this was his # 1 choice. We are OOS but also described our connection to SC (tons of family there, have been visiting his whole life, envisions himself staying after graduating). Not sure if it helped.

What are the other options

Penn State

Just following for next year- good luck to all you waiting- I am curious if there seems to be some majors one is more likely to gain acceptance to? Do you think some majors are harder to get into? Getting ready to apply OOS daughter in fall- any tips??? Thank you!

My D24 was accepted EA in December as Education major - TO, 4.35WGPA, OOS. However, she was not initially awarded any merit aid which made it not affordable to attend. The NPC indicated she would likely get around 10k per year. She appealed the decision and recently found out that she was awarded ~$5,500 per year. Not quite enough. So, the major possibly helped her get the early acceptance. Not sure if it was the major, grades, or TO that contributed to no merit. Her best friend applied business and submitted Test Score (1300+) and was awarded in-state tuition for OOS student. So, it’s a delicate balance. Of course, if you can afford full pay, then that certainly helps!

Anyone who got in off the waitlist in March… have you gotten your official admit letter and welcome packet?

we didn’t recieve anything in the mail, accept our Tshirt. Everything was in the portal regarding acceptance.

When did you receive the tshirt?

Is it likely that a student gets off the waitlist on May 15th? Or would I have already heard back by now if they wanted me? USC is my top choice and I don’t know what more I can do to get off the waitlist.
