Waitlisted people

Just an FYI…

I found this out, as of 5/2/06:

There are 20 ACTING majors for Fall of 2006.
and
There are 40 MUSICAL THEATRE majors for Fall of 2006.

If you are waitlisted, don’t hold your breath.

I’m sorry Kels!

I don’t really know what this means thou…how many are there usually in each class? Is 20/40 high, or is it just full…

that’s a HUGE number! And they thought last years class was big! There are about 10-15 more than what they had come in for fall of 05.

So that sufficiently fills the class, I’d say.

We just visited Roosevelt and we were told by the
admissions office that there are only 20 musical theater majors!

Where did 40 come from???

Just wondering…

Amy, that came from Brett and David who got it from Sean and Joel.

I know they YIELD for 20 and admit 100.

But that’s how many from the 100 accepted their offers.

So, what does this huge class size mean? If so many have accepted offers, does that mean the school will (dramatic drumroll please) . . . do some sort of cut to get the sophmore class at a managable number???

I don’t believe the class size means anything really in particular…just that the class sizes seem to be increasing every year.

They don’t do a “cut” but I know they do not invite some people back at the end of the year based on many factors from the course of the school year.

I am pretty sure that they will not enforce a cut. Almost every audition-based BFA theatre performance program reserves the right to “not ask people back” (which is cutting them) but that is only if they slack off or are clearly not working…

At my audition we discussed to DePaul cut and Prof White clearly said that a cut system is NOT the kinda of thing that their program agrees with. They want to give a sense of security to their students so that they can take risks…that’s what he said. I understand that, although I don’t think a cut makes people hold back, but I see where he is coming from.

So, yeah, I doubt that they would do that.

Oh, by the way, wow, 100 is a big number to yeild 20! Is that the same # as for actors?

Every year they send out 100 acceptances, covering Acting and MT.

Up until this class, they had only been having classes of like 25 MT and 25 Acting, because that’s about how many were accepting their admittance offers. Now it appears almost everyone is taking their admittance offers!

It seems like the phenomena of high yields in BFA programs is a common one in the past year or two. Not sure exactly why but maybe more are applying for these selective programs across the board and so get into just a couple and thus matriculate at the ones they get into. Not sure. But it seems like we are seeing high yields at many programs the last couple of years.

i think high yields can mean only one thing… MUSICAL THEATRE IS FINALLY HEADED FOR WORLD DOMINATION.

(Heck, I would pledge my allegience!)

o musicals the things you do to me.

Anyone know how many are wait listed this year?

My daughter still has not received her letter! Last Monday, I called the school, gave them my daughter’s name and they told me that all remaining letters were mailed the previous weekend. Maybe by Pony Express?

Did anyone received their letter this past week?

I received my letter a few weeks ago and i know of a few other who got their letters around that time as well

Tell your daughter i said good luck!

Riesen, I would call again tomorrow and tell them you were told it was mailed over a week ago and you still have not received it and given that it is April 7, your daughter needs a response in order to weigh her options and ask if it is possible for them to email you the decision as you wait for the official letter.

I called this morning. Another rejection. They did not know why the letter had not been sent. Oh, well…at least the waiting is over and the decision can be made.

Riesen,

Sorry to hear the news with Roosevelt. Glad you can bring closure to that one and move on. This is a process wrought with rejections and surely that part is no fun. Once you get past this part, things get better, they really do.

I know MT kids who are happy at all three of the schools your daughter is admitted to. I imagine this time next year, your D also will be happily immersed in one of these programs.

Anybody heard yet?

My son received an email today saying now that May 1 has passed they are now going to make offers to some on their wait list and was he still interested in being considered.
