Waitlistees!! when are you going to / when did you send your supplementary letter?

Orly? tenchar

did the people who’s guidance counselors were contacted also receive email notification?

That’s really strange then. Why would they call to see if she was really interested if she sent a letter that confirmed her interest? And why are we supposedly seeing another acceptance? Do we have any official confirmation that Columbia has actually notified anyone yet? No offense to foodietastic79, if you really did get in, congratulations, but it’s hard to trust someone with only one post and no one else to confirm.

Maybe someone can give the admissions office a call to see if they really have accepted some people already?

YES THEY HAVE. I KNOW THIS FOR A FACT. However, I too am suspicious of foodie’s post.

So do you think they are not releasing acceptances in any type of organized way? Maybe just notifying anyone they take as soon as they finish reviewing that applicant? Sorry I’m just trying to understand how this is working because it doesn’t really make sense right now.

hmm idk but she hasn’t gotten any notifications yet…

ughh this is so stressful!

Well we can only guess at how this whole waitlist process works, esp with how especially secretive Columbia is lol. On the harvard WL thread (I didn’t even get WLed, how sad is it that I’m stalking the forum) people have speculated that they notify by regions, and that the northeast region is last, but that would not apply to Columbia b/c the kid I know who got off the WL is in CT. SO I hope this doesn’t mean that they’ve finished reviewing WLees from CT b/c if so then I’m screwed :(

^ Hang in there! Maybe they go in random order or maybe they’re checking the people
who sent in their extra stuff earlier. Who knows!

^haha oh, extra stuff earlier means no good for me! I was sort of later than expected, but hopefully that won’t matter…

hey everyone. I too just created an account to reply to this thread. Just wanted to corroborate what foodie said - I too was just accepted off the waitlist at Columbia College. Columbia sent me an email around 6pm EST saying that my “Admissions Decision is Ready” and when I logged into my account I had my congratulatory acceptance letter and “Welcome to NYC” video. I’m an international student without financial aid.

If CC is still not sending me an email, does that mean that they are still looking at my transcript and deciding whether to accept me or not? Or have they finished making decisions? This is driving me NUTS. I want to get over with this whole college stuff!

My D got in off the wait list yesterday at 6pm. She got an email. Financial aid info was also posted at this time. Northeast area. There was no call to GC, however GC did receive an email mid-April asking for a letter of intent/further accomplishments from my D.

:(
booooooo.

Hi, I’d like to try and help address a few of the questions on this thread since I last posted.

The Columbia Engineering waiting list was released with the exception of a small number of candidates. I believe the extended waitlist letter explains more for those candidates with a final notification by July 1.

The Columbia College waiting list has been under review by the Committee and some candidates were already notified of a decision. Additional updates will come within the next few weeks for those still waiting but I don’t have any other information at this time. Final notification should be by July 1 (just like Engineering).

I believe candidates can still send supplementary information to Admissions and you can call the Admissions Office if you have any additional questions about the waiting list.

I just called the Columbia Admissions Office about the status of the waitlist. ColumbiaURC is spot on, thanks a bunch for helping us through this extremely harrowing process! In addition, the person who talked to me over the phone said that they were working hard on trying to notify as many applicants as they can on May 15 (some were released earlier). If there’s no acceptance email May 15, then the next big release date (at least according to the really nice Columbia speaker) would be early June.

I guess this is kind of like rolling? But at any rate, those are some rough timeframes for us to chew over as we wait. Haha~

ColumbiaURC and Illation, you guys just saved me so much stress, thank you! I’ll be looking forward to tomorrow.

^^^What types of supplementray materials?? Just the letter if you didn’t already send it? Thanks for the info, this makes my life just a bit less stressful! =D

Hey i have also been put on the extended waitlist for SEAS and would appreciate any kind of information about how many people eventually do get off it-Also considering the fact that no one apparently got off the initial wait list for SEAS is there any chance to get off the extended waitlist? And lastly can ColumbiaURC or anyone for that matter please shed some light on how actually the admissions office will go about the extended waitlist? I mean does it depend on the summer melt or what?
I am an international student-not applying for aid anymore, and Columbia is more than a dream.I 'll really appreciate feedback to this post. Thanks

i got off the waitlistttttttt!!!

will columbia send out notices saying an applicant will be removed from the waitlist tomorrow or is it just acceptances they are sending out
