I’m going to Northeastern if I don’t get in. I really don’t want to go there and I’ll probably end up transferring if I do, so I really need this.

^ same here, only substitute in CSU for northeastern. It’s a great school that i like, but they don’t hve the right majors since my potential direction changed :P

Yeah Northeastern is a great school, I’m just realizing now that it is totally not what I want. It was a safety so I didn’t really look into it that much. It’s just not a good fit.

@Illation

I deposited at University of Chicago too! I think they’re really similar in many aspects but I love Columbia whereas I strongly like UChicago

Should be anytime now. Good luck everyone!

…nothing…

Nothing yet here either

or here…anyone yet?

…sigh…

Maybe it’s taking longer today because they’re emailing more people?

Do you think they might even send them out later in the evening, say like 10pm or did a Columbia official confirm that it would be more like 6pm?

I think we all just assumed it would be 6 since that’s when they sent the emails for the last 2 days. I guess it could be anytime.

Lol yayyyyyy rumors!

Honestly, this is the first I’ve heard of stuff coming out today and I consider myself very much in the loop. However, good luck to everyone if stuff if and trust me, even if things don’t turn out, the school where you are now is probably the right one. The universe has a funny way of turning out.

@nikeofsamothrace–have you heard of any specifics regarding waitlist notification? thanks!

All I know is that they are still very much in the process of taking people off the list and notifying people. Be calm people, it’s out of our hands now and there is absolutely nothing we can do, barring sending those letters. It’s a committee decision, just trying to fill gaps in the class. It’s luck, basically. If they need that organist or a debater.

Also, it’s a Saturday night, just being realistic, you know…most places are closed. They have weeks to notify us and classically it’s done on Friday/Thursday by Columbia over e-mail.

The representative I spoke to, Erin (I believe was her name), said on May 15. However, it’s possible that the office could have just not reviewed all the materials in time. She said they were trying their hardest to release by today–I guess the wait continues. We can probably take her words to mean that the Office was planning to release around May 15. -shrugs- I’ve pretty much resigned myself to not getting into any of my waitlists (Princeton, Yale, or Columbia).

This waiting game is seriously too trying on my nerves.

@nikeofsamothrace: Saturday night doesn’t really mean much. I know that Yale called accepted people off of the waitlist throughout the day on Saturday a week ago. Columbia does have weeks to notify us, as do Princeton and Yale, but the trend is to release in rounds. Princeton and Yale have wrapped up their first rounds and it’s pretty safe to assume that Columbia is in the middle of their first round. I mean, who’s to say that they won’t notify us on a weekend? In addition, it’s pretty difficult to stay calm. Certainly, some people like you are lucky enough to have a rather chill mindset. But for some of us, it’s really nervewracking. I know that part of my anxiety stems from the fact that I can no longer do anything, that it’s out of my hands. I am naturally averse to waiting and the longer I wait, the more agony the process causes for me. It’s about getting closure. If they want me, they want me. If they don’t, they don’t. It’s just I want to -know-. I can’t keep hanging on a thread, dangling around.

Anyways, good luck everyone! I hope good news hits us soon.

Illation, when did you speak with Erin? It could be that the committee has already
met their deadline (May 14) and so won’t need to send anything else out today…?

Anyway if we don’t get anything today or tomorrow, there’s always early June (I think).

I spoke with Erin on Friday, so May 14th.

They said they were working hard to release them on May 15th. That would mean they were not done yesterday and may not be today.
