^let’s hope so!

Argh, illation, I’m in total agreement about just wanting to know. Hopefully there may be some closure in the coming days if they don’t make it today… Fingers crossed!

So much for May 15-- has anyone heard back yet?

Not me…it’s also sort of unfortunate that we have such a small sampling on college confidential, maybe there WERE people notified yesterday and we just dont know about it :-|

nothing for me either…i’m really nervous about this >.<

I think we would know if anyone got in yesterday. People posted on here saying they got in on thursday and friday and they would have taken less people those two days, so I would think we would know if they released most acceptances yesterday.

if you guys had to guess, how many spots do you think there are?

^100 at the most

Nothing here either…

But does anyone know how big Columbia’s entering class usually is? Based on that we may be able to calculate an approximate number of openings, as columbia’s yield has at its highest been aroung 60 %, I think

Last year they enrolled 1493 students. This year, there are 1340 students in the accepted student facebook group. This group is closed and only for accepted students and probably some people affiliated with columbia. I think its safe to say that the vast majority of people have facebook and most people who were accepted joined. We can also probably assume that most people in the group actually enrolled. So taking all this into account, we are probably looking at around 150 spots open.

@cellocchick I live abroad, but I’m a US citizen (dual). I never quite understood where that put me in the applicant pool.

********. There are a good number of people I know from our school and surrounding schools that do NOT own facebook. Also, 26 people were accepted off the waitlist in 2008.

150 is just a wee bit too hopeful.

I know for a fact that several people I know in that FB group have enrolled elsewhere.

^^Yes, 150 seems way hopeful, but hopefully the number won’t be quite so conservative as 26 either :P

@tristan101: Hopefully many have enrolled elsewhere
That would be lovely.

And to Barty…lol, i have no clue where that puts you either! You’re just a mystery I guess =)

I think you can expect a dozen or so more wait-list spots as a minimum as people who deposited at Columbia may be getting wait-list results from HYPS (if they prefer those). Plus don’t expect 100% yield on people who are accepted from the wait-list - many wait for financial aid info and what not (like myself).

Last year was 26, but I’m pretty sure this year will be more, Princeton and Yale have already gone to their wait-list in bigger numbers than previous years (I think), and Harvard is also going to its wait-list. This is in part because of the high number of cross-admits this year (from what I’ve heard).

I know they said, according to a previous post, that thy would try to get to decisions by May 15…is there any chance there will be more acceptances today?

I called Columbia’s Admissions Office, and the lady said that the next wave of notifications will occur in June.

That’s depressing :(

So does that mean there will be no further notifications of acceptance until June?

next wave of notifications? Does that mean the main one has already been sent?
