Ok…since you’re responding to other questions, please humor me because I do have a few more and you’re one of the choice few who’s heard back. There are very few on the other side! If you don’t mind, does your son go to a private school or a public? Do you think that had any bearing on getting off of any of the waitlists? (as in perhaps your counselor called or helped or anything at all?) Did your son send in a LOCI? More than one? Did Brown offer any other information other than “Welcome to the class of 2028!” as in why now and not why before? Feel free not to answer one or another if it feels too personal. I’m sure you can understand why I’m asking and I understand why you’d choose to answer or not. Thank you again!
Public and I personally don’t think it has any bearing on it. Absolutely no counselor call, not the vibe of his school and they wouldn’t for anyone. One loci, no real updates, just reiterated interest said maintaining straight A’s and mentioned some research in peer review stage that pertained to how he would utilize open curriculum.
There was no email asking if still interested that some do, it was just a congrats you’re accepted yesterday. This morning the AO emailed and remarked how she remembered him from a school visit and enjoyed his essays. She later followed it up with a call. We literally weren’t even thinking about Brown as figured zero shot so was quite the shock. He did nothing out of the ordinary.
Thank you so much. I can’t tell you how helpful this was. Really. Your kid sounds great and deserving. Good luck on your campus visit and the road ahead!
I know it is and it isn’t, no cracking the code unfortunately. He got lucky as a strong unhooked student. Good luck!
just got off ucsb waitlist, pre-chemistry, oos
Was just going to post, UCSB waitlist moving today…
UCLA went to WL this morning. All oos (not surprisingly).
anyone heard anything for cal state waitlists like sdsu?
Anyone hear of anyone getting off Boston University’s waitlist? They said it was a short, unranked list which sounds like a load of bull but my daughter is keeping hope alive:)
Weirdly someone came on the BU transfer chat (on CC) and said they had been given an auto transfer option for 2025 which they accepted. Suddenly 2 days ago they received an acceptance to BU ….so no idea what they are doing
I wonder if UChicago would do that. ![]()
Nice surprise for my DS to get an offer from UTK today with a very generous scholarship included too!
Will he accept?
Reading these WL acceptances are so fun! It’s like when you think you’ve finished opening all the presents and then you find one you forgot about hidden behind the couch. ![]()
We will certainly consider it.
That’s a great way to think of it!
UGA took a small group of in state kids off the waitlist yesterday. This follows a small out-of-state waitlist pull the week prior. They post notifications on the admissions, blog comments that this is occurring. According to both comments, they are very close to reaching their desired enrollment number, both in state and OOS.
I haven’t heard of anyone getting off the waitlist either in-state or out of state from Georgia Tech. Last year this silence meant that the Atlanta campus was full, and they were only taking spots for the first year semester abroad.
Keeping fingers crossed for all on waitlist, hoping for a positive result!
UW-Madison waitlist started to move last night. Accepted students received an email, a text, and an update to their portal. Based on reports on CC and FB, in-state, OOS, and international students were accepted. The majors I’ve seen are for engineering and CS
That is interesting.
Someone did from out OOS school.
