Sorry, WL sucks

(And I say that from, now several WL—not diminishing the accomplishment, just the feeling of it)

Same here even though we had moveinday in our source code and no mention of waitlist.

Anyone know anything about Wake waitlist? Every school seems different but wake doesn’t publish data in common data set

This is from a parent of a Wake freshman and the process this year is no different from last year, a test of patience and at times, brutal and unpredictable. Congratulations to all future Deacs , it is a special place. For those waitlisted or rejected
love the school that loves you back. You will find the right fit in another school and will go on to do great things.

All I know about waitlist is from what was published last year. My daughter was not waitlisted but one of her suite mates was once on the waitlist ,so it is possible
just not sure how possible. I do not know any of the statistics on the waitlist numbers. They will give you an option to remain on the list until June, July, or August. They will personally call you if an availability comes (so know the area code) and you have 24 hours to give an answer.

For those students curious-Wake assigns you a roommate, so no pressure in finding one. Wake also offers a pre-orientation program that I highly, highly recommend. It is one week before move in and this is where my daughter made some of her strongest friend connections.

Good luck to all!

For those on the waitlist
one of my DD26’s friends was admitted off the waitlist in July before the start of the school year.

SO MANY! I see your handle and think of that quote from Shawshank: “Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a man insane.”

Sorry if this seems an odd question, but is there any strategy to the WL dates? I mean if you say you’ll stay on till August are they any less likely to call you in June?

Did Wake say the list was unranked? I can’t remember. I know some schools say that.

Even if unranked overall, wouldn’t there have to be rankings within categories? “We need a male from the Northeast, business major”. And then they have a list of, I don’t know, 500 of those probably to choose from?

D24 Admitted! Was really not expecting this one.

My daughter applied for ED (first generation) and not really sure why, but got an email earlier in the year that had deferred her to RD. She got waitlisted as well.

No idea but how do they expect people to stay on a waitlist past April? Most other colleges have a deadline to enroll by May 1 and some extended it to May 15 due to FAFSA delays. If someone applied to a difficult to get into college like Wake Forest, they probably have other offers they don’t want to turn down. I put June but if don’t hear by mid-April, will cancel. And to be competitive with other offers, need a decent merit scholarship and I’m sure that will not happen if I’m on the waitlist.

Did anyone that got admitted receive a scholarship or merit with acceptance?

The expectation is you will put down a non-refundable deposit somewhere else, then if you get in off the waitlist you will lose that deposit (not just Wake Forest, this is how waitlisting works in general).
