Wake Forest Class of 2028 Official Thread

Seems like deposits are $100 to a few hundred? That sucks, but at this stage of the game—and I know this is incredibly privileged—but just put it on my tab. This has been an incredibly expensive endeavor and we’ve yet to spend a dime on tuition.

They vary but can get into four figures. I think Wake itself is something like $1500.

But yes, the idea is if you actually valued A over B enough to change your choice when A gave you a waitlist offer, the sunk cost of $1500 or whatever would not be a big barrier.

Thank you so much for the advice!

Yeah, that’s what makes me feel even worse. We’ve basically signaled to every school: take our money. We’re not applying for aid. We will totally subsidize the kids you really want. Just charge us full freight, it’s fine.

Still landed on the WL

Has anyone received merit based aid information? Does anyone know when that will come out?

Not from what I have seen. I emailed admissions today, asking if decisions have been made and communicated yet. Will report back once I get a response!

Did admissions get back to you?

Not yet :frowning:

Waitlisted, but not interested enough to accept a spot. Congratulations to those accepted!

Did Wake say when to expect a financial estimate/ eligibility for aid award package? If there is any merit it will be included in this package.

I just got a financial aid letter that included need based and merit based aid!

Congrats! Where did you see that?

My daughter got her info tonight too. Not nearly the amount of merit she was looking for unfortunately

DD25 is considering Wake for next year. I’m curious about the range of merit aid offers. Also if those who apply early ever get any merit aid.

It was a status update that led to a pdf. Same place where my status update was for admission, just with the date saying today!

Me too! My interview especially went well so I was hoping for more but no :frowning:

It’s sad because I really loved wake forest but I’m happy with my other choices!

Although I will say they gave me more need based aid than I expected so that’s good! Still not enough though :joy:

Beyond the named, full scholarships, Wake does not generally give much merit.

It’s feast or famine from the couple of reference that I have. We are in nc so I was surprised for her to not get more as I assume a lot nc students getting into wake are also getting into Unc at 1/4 the cost. She’s happy with her other school so moving on.

Wake really doesn’t need to discount tuition.

Agreed, other than few cases they are “selling” and not “buying”
