Any other movement on the Wake front from anyone?
Havenât heard anything. Last year there was a blog update on 6/4 âAs we prepare for the summer, weâd like to provide some more information about our waitlist. By now, applicants on the active waitlist with a June 1 reply date should have received an email about the option to extend their date of consideration. (If youâve missed that message, please be sure to write us at your earliest convenience.)â
Havenât seen anything like that, so I wonder?
Anyone hear of more updates, or has WF filled their class?
Finally got the call late yesterday. Given two days to decide. Did not apply for financial aid- and the merit-based aid is no longer available.
you paying full bird or taking your business elsewhere? we got same a univ of miami but paying 93k a year was too steep
FULL- at least for year one. We can apply for the merit-based, etc. in the Fall. Hopefully, the FAFSA rollout is better this time.
Students can apply for merit-based aid in later years? I didnât know thatâŠdo you know how often it is awarded? Asking bc my kid wants to ED for next year, and I fear that would take her out of the running for merit awards.
Yeah- the merit-based are rolling basis, and- in my unique situation- because my child didnât have the opportunity to provide them in '24, those will be provided for the '25 year awards.
As to the financial aid, of course, you have to reapply for those each year, and- in my case- I just used the IRS portal link so theyâll track my income based on my '24 tax return (that will be filed by April 15, 2025).
Welcome to Wake Forest. Our children had a wonderful experience there and I hope yours does as well.
Also adding another learning, there was some wondering what it meant between first and second scholarship weekend. Found out a classmate was also selected and won full-ride, they were at different weekends and didnât know about each other until end of year. Interestingly though WF sent out list of names of 25 kids and their high schools prior to the weekend so they seem to encourage getting to know one another. No other school did that.
Thank you!
Was your child applying early decision? Or does âautomatic acceptance earlyâ just mean earlier notification of regular decision?
Also do you have a sense of stats/extracurriculars they look for?
They applied regular decision but there is an earlier deadline to be considered for merit. That is the case at many cases so need to watch dates. Correct, past years it was an earlier acceptance for regular so I read on here, but that was not the case this year.
Got it. Any info you can share about the profile of students invited for that weekend would be helpful, including if anyone who applied ED was. Iâm making my peace with my kid missing out on opportunities for merit awards from wake bc itâs her first choice and she wants to apply ED.
I really have no clue if the other kids were ED or regular, sorry. Usual stuff very tippy top stats, lots of rigor, strong extracurriculars, leadership, and personal qualities.
Sonâs friend got off WL Friday.
YAY!
Can I ask if heâs going? And he had how long to decide?
Finally, the region and major?
