Thanks, that’s really helpful! Gosh, I hope my daughter gets the call.

Thanks so much!

Does anyone know how stretched out the waitlist process may be? How many days the calls tend to go on, for the bulk of waitlist admissions? I’m seeing more people on Reddit who got in, one needing aid and also for Political Science, just like my kid.

On Monday, my daughter received an email from the University of Rochester informing her that she had secured a spot off the waitlist. She had seven days to respond. On Wednesday, she received a call from Wake around 3:00 CDT, confirming that she had also earned a spot on their waitlist. She had only 48 hours to respond. Initially, she had planned to follow the spring pathway route for William and Mary through the study abroad program. However, after Rochester’s removal, she seriously considered it because the scholarship and aid would have been better. Plus she started having second thoughts about studying abroad her first semester but not enough to turn away. She still felt that William and Mary was the best fit and had given up the University of FL online start. So, she decided to leverage her position to get off their waitlist, especially since Rochester had offered her the Dean’s scholarship. However, as she was writing the letter, Wake Forest came through, and she almost thought about bargaining with them as well. But she realized that she had similar feelings about both schools and mostly chosen William and Mary because of the study abroad spring pathway option. She also felt a sense of disbelief because she had put more effort into getting off William and Mary’s waitlist than the other two (we had flown out there for spring break, the whole family had worn matching T-shirts, she had provided a handwritten letter, added third quarter grades, and bi-weekly LOCI, andI had paid the $500 deposit for the study abroad program). So with only had a short window to commit, we chose Wake! And we’re grateful we did, the need-based scholarship was generous, not as much as Rochester but very generous. W&M wasn’t meant to be and that’s ok. Despite her initial hope for a different outcome, she is now excited and at peace. I don’t care what waitlist comes in after, we are headed to Wake Forest University! Go Deacs!

Those on the waitlist: Did your application portal change completely today? I think clearly they just revamped the entire portal design (but it’s slightly disconcerting as one of the features under “Next Steps” is now a section that says, " Attending an event on campus is a great way to get to know your new home! Visit our [events page] to stay up-to-date with upcoming events for incoming students
" and another line says, “Follow us on social media to stay up-to-date with the latest from Wake Forest and connect with others in the incoming class!”)

Ours looks the same. And I just noticed my daughter indicated to stay on waitlist as late as June 1st so I guess that means she’d be out of consideration at this point.

Sorry, the same as in
it looks the same as it did before? Or the same as in, the same as what my kid is seeing? Thanks so much. PS: I’m also sorry your daughter’s been disappointed not to get off the waitlist. This has been hard, huh?

Sorry, it looks the same as yours regarding next steps.

WF called from the 336 area code and left a voicemail. Once you speak with the admissions officer, they will send you an email.

Wake closed the waitlist today. My kid is crushed.

I am so sorry. The process is miserable, and watching your child suffer is miserable, even when you know that thing they want now may not be the thing they want in even just 4 months. I doubt it helps, but it is absolutely true that the losses my children have felt the most are also the experiences that were most transformative for them in good ways. It isn’t always that way, but it can be.
