Does anybody have predictions as to when this decision will come out?
Parent of a current Deac here. Based on my daughter’s acceptance in 2023, Wake sent out regular admission notifications on March 17th, which was the 3rd Friday of the month and they arrived just shortly after 7:00 p.m. I do not remember an email coming through, just a social media post earlier in the day giving notice of a release that evening. Good Luck!
Parent of a ‘29 Deac - My daughter’s acceptance came on Friday, March 21st last year. ![]()
Wake is great place - she is thriving and having the time of her life!
Decisions are out. My son got in. Tough decisions to make in the coming month!
What are his choices?
Strongly recommend researching various schools. My son is a current freshman and we regret committing early decision. We were not “connected”, my son did not go to a boarding school and he is the first in our family to attend WAKE. All of these things work against you. The school is very exclusive, it’s all about who you know and connections made way before you step foot on the campus. My son has tried to get involved in clubs, everything seemed to have an application and exclusive process. The FRAT situation is awful, very limited for boys and you must have a connection to get into one. My son was not a fan of that process so did not pursue it. Many of his friends were crushed when they did not get selected. Intramurals was also a joke….. my son signed up for basketball in his dorm and not enough people signed up so they had no team. Had he been in other dorms it might have been a better experience. The WAKE parent Facebook group is filled with disgruntled parents from various years… parents that wish they encouraged their sons to transfer out. Many students do not get into the Business School and then have to scramble to figure out a major, this year they finally added a business minor to appease the students that did not make the cut. Many students get screwed on study abroad options as well. My advice is to keep looking and gathering information about the colleges your student is interested in. The only positive is the professors and the great academics. My son loves his classes and teachers, has learned a lot. His professors were shocked when he asked them to sign off on his transfer paperwork. After reading many comments on the parent Facebook page it seems about 125-150 students transfer out each year (about 10%) most of them males. Best of luck!
Unfortunately not surprised by your comments regarding Wake Forest. A couple of families we know who visited came away with the same feelings and quickly moved on. Much “better” options out there, particularly for schools with 20-30% acceptance rate (lots of schools to choose from within that acceptance rate range).
Thanks for sharing this. My son was rejected in RD, and we were waiting to visit until we knew the outcome (expensive coming from California). So no decision to be made, but I don’t think that environment would have worked for my casual West Coast kid!
