My son just got in and he had 11 AP classes

We have a friend that heard last week (ED) that they were deferred and several others that were admitted (also last week).

As many has the student can take.

Every high school offers a different number of AP exams. If the high school offers a lot AP exams then I would say 4-8, at least 6. Colleges will look at how many APs were offered and put how many APs the student took into context.

Of course taking AP exams alone does not much help. A lot of people list how their kid took 12 APs but never state if they scored a 5 on all 12. The student needs to score a 5 on in order for the AP to really have a positive impact for admissions.

No APs, but DD was in the IB diploma program at her school (taking all IB classes), and received the diploma.

Early December? If it really was that’s unusual. The last ED rolling admissions date was the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, from what I head and saw online. The next release would be the remainder of ED decisions, and that usually would come next week (based on past years). I hadn’t seen or heard of anyone where I am who has heard in December yet.

I’m sure you’re correct and that my recollection of timing was incorrect. Sorry about that.

Thanks for AP info, that’s helpful.

Last year the December decision was posted on Friday, December 13th. Should we be on the look out for this Friday then?

Remembered my son was accepted at Wake a few years ago, too (though he chose a different university). He took 10 or 11 APs, 4 of those were his senior year. He got mostly 4s, a few 5s, and one 3. He reported all his scores (and his SAT – 700V/780M).

Is there any chance final ED decisions get released today?

We were hoping for today as well - my daughter applied end of October - haven’t heard anything.

Daughter received ED decision tonight. Rejected. It was a major reach.

Sorry to hear it.

Did you hear?
