My daughter received her acceptance letter today! It was posted in her portal - she hasn’t received the letter in the mail yet. She applied on July 28 and her letter is postmarked August 22, so about 3 ½ weeks. Since I know that many people are curious about stats, I’ll share them here:
3.8/4.0 gpa (HS does not weight or rank)
Did NOT submit any test scores
pre-med. indicated possible major: biology; minors: linguistics and dance
Mostly honors classes; 6 AP classes (stats, bio, environmental science, psych, Eng lit, physics); 6 years math, 5 years science, 5 years foreign language (3 Spanish, 2 Korean)
interviewed in person
she's a principal ballet dancer with a dance company and indicated she will be auditioning for the WF dance company; 14 years of dance training.
does not have an overabundance of extracurriculars since she dances 5-6 days per week. Her other activities: varsity cheer, intern at University of Washington Medical Center, brief paid position at a physical therapy office and long term paid as a bookkeeper for a real estate company, volunteer work at several community organizations. Was not involved in any school clubs or student government.
I’m guessing the answer is yes? It was posted on Friday in the portal and she received her letter on Monday. I’ve seen other postings saying this was the case for them, too.
Our daughter is IN!!! Got the acceptance letter on the portal this evening!! Packet due in the mail tomorrow…Good luck to all!! Lots of hard wok and prayers!! GO DEACS???
Right under the address section, and above the application checklist section, a new section is added called “Status Update.” It says “An update to your application was last posted on [date].” Then a link that says “View Update”. The link takes you to the letter.
No they never emailed. She just checked her portal every day and it was suddenly there. They say somewhere in the admissions info that they don’t notify by email.
If i applied 7 weeks ago and still haven’t heard back, should I be worried? Or is it normal. After 8 weeks should i contact the school to make sure everything is ok?
Congratulations to those who got in so early! My son’s interview is scheduled in early November since all other slots were taken in Sept or Oct. Love to hear your stats or key learnings from your successful admission.
My daughter was accepted on Sept 10. She applied on August 10, application information was all complete on Aug 22. 1450 SAT (submitted); A’s in all classes since freshman year; Solid rigor; Boarding school; Unique supplemental answers (took some risks), Avid reader and referenced many books she read outside of school assignments; 50 minute interview. EC’s are strong with several leadership roles. Her brother is a freshman at Wake! Go Deacs!
Her tip: She did a ton of due diligence on Wake and comparison to other schools. She read the President’s strategic plan and board presentation (she found it somewhere online) and referenced parts of it in her interview. She visited the campus three times (two tours/info sessions). Researched the program she wanted to study and connected with a professor.
My ED application was submitted in late July, and my HS got everything to WF by end of August. I haven’t heard anything. I did have an interview, but that was more recent. I am wondering if they take longer to decline b/c some people on this board got accepted within 2-3 weeks.
I didn’t interview until a week ago, but that was the last thing. Since all my other info has been in for a month, I thought I’d hear sooner – like by today. So far, nothing.
I followed the 2023 ED board last year, and while some heard within 3 weeks, others heard after 9 weeks and were still admitted. Don’t assume a rejection if it takes longer to hear.
